Don't you just love the irony?

Companies say they can't find "Qualified or skilled" workers for all of their job openings but they're not willing to do any training or take on someone fresh out of school. Sorry folks but you're going to have to invest in your workers for a change. And you're going to have to start paying a living wage.

Constant problem here in Australia. The companies cry that they can find no skilled workers which is a pure lie. Personally, I used to apply for positions that I was qualified for and receive no reply but the position continued to be advertised. Then the companies started adding, 457 visa applicants, (skilled immigrant )encouraged to apply.
I wrote to one of these companies saying that I am reporting them to the watchdog and the State Government for discrimination.
I got a response from the Government but not the company.
There were close to 300 jobs on the 457 visa list. The State Government slashed that figure to 25.
They would rather employ visa people because it is cheaper. No need to pay holiday pay, sick leave. Could fire them on the spot.
wait till bill shorthead becomes prime minister 😑

god help us all

I agree. It's one thing to have a basic skill, welding, machining, nursing, mechanics...it's something else to find an employer that will seek your full potential.

It's a lie to get more H1B visas to keep wages low by importing cheap labor.
