Was it a bad idea to lie to my boss?

Starcrossed · 41-45, F
He's a POS so probably not.
SW-User
Yet he is oddly shocked to find that I hate my job and that there’s nothing he can do to fix it. Shame he isn’t a self-aware POS 🤦‍♂️@Starcrossed
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
@SW-User but there's a fuckton he could personally start doing or stop doing... gaaahhhh
ImRileyTheDog · 22-25, F
Depends on the lie
SW-User
The question was, “Do I need to be worried?” re: his concerns that I’m going to harm myself, or worse 😔@ImRileyTheDog

No! Lying to the person responsible for your income needed for food, housing, etc - it's the absolute best thing you can do to advance your career!

I appreciate the humor. I’m just a firm believer that an employer doesn’t need to be my buddy and know the details of my personal life, too. I already see the people for 50-60 hours a week, that’s enough sharing. @Budwick

@SW-User I assumed the question wasn't serious either.
You never mentioned what the 'lies' were in reference to.

Glad you enjoyed the humor.

It's typically a bad idea to lie to a boss, especially if they know or find out the truth.
SW-User
Generally speaking I’d agree, but the question was personal in nature and kind of not work’s business. The whole “my coworkers don’t know I’m married and my wife doesn’t know I have a job” thing, if you know that joke/reference. @Timeforsun
Timeforsun · 51-55, F
@SW-User Ahhh...I gotcha! Yeah, that's a different story entirely.
probably.
but what is done is done.
stick to your story.
SW-User
Same story I’ve told everyone ever - I’m okay, I got this. @TwiddlerofThumbs
@SW-User Same story you've told everyone ever?? Are you certain that it is a lie?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
Can he/she find out the truth?
SW-User
Well, yeah, in the same way my cat could box Floyd Mayweather from 1998 if reality adhered to different rules. It wasn’t actually about a work matter, anyway. @MarkPaul
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@SW-User In that case, keep your cat locked up and don't change the story with your boss. And, stop lying damn it. I'm getting tired of coming to the rescue each and every time.
Dog eat dog, you have to to what you can to get ahead
