It's typically a bad idea to lie to a boss, especially if they know or find out the truth.

Generally speaking I’d agree, but the question was personal in nature and kind of not work’s business. The whole “my coworkers don’t know I’m married and my wife doesn’t know I have a job” thing, if you know that joke/reference. @Timeforsun
