I will just pre-assume its gonna be offensive and that'll save me the trouble
GeniUs · 56-60, M
Why would it be offensive?
When have I ever initiated an offensive thread?
This makes you a bigot.
from that i see that he is mocking us the religious people because he doesn't believe in God i think.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@thinkbigaboutlife: thanks for clarifying
GeniUs · 56-60, M
@thinkbigaboutlife: on the contrary it contains a valid question and if you take the time to look at any number of the religious postings on here the majority of them are people pretending to be religious before begging for sex or bemoaning why god wants them to suffer.

@MartinTheFirst: but that doesn't stop you being a bigot for prejudging, something that you are specifically told not to in the Bible. Also the opinion of somebody who shares your opinion but hasn't viewed the content properly (or can't understand it) hardly justifies your position.

@GeniUs: oki
Gen: the video sounds very much like someone would say to someone else : ok, so you believe in God, you go to church, well if it makes you happy go for it. But I don't believe in that crap. >>> sounds like what you are trying to say to us through that song. If you believed in god yourself, you wouldn't have said ''for you religious people out there''...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grTuXo1hqN4 --- a video like that with the "thinking of all us religious people, watch this inspirational video" -- then I would believe you are not mocking us.

@thinkbigaboutlife: Sorry lady, I was brought up in the church and it held my life back for 30-40 years. Trust me when I say I'm really sorry that good people (like me) won't be rewarded after life and the bad people of this world get sorted out, just like in a Hollywood film but I believe that religion is to try and make us accept our lot usually enforced by people doing a whole lot better out of life.
IE the Church of England is worth 4 billion quid but if I was a disciple they'd still want 10% of my gross income (yes we went over whether it was net or gross at church), even though that would further hold back my lifestyle. And I don't have a lot.
I am a church goer, but never will I give 10% of my income. I think it is ''recommended'', but what I give is a personal choice. No one puts a gun to my head or sends a bill to my house ''demanding'' 10%. We go to church, we know that the church upkeeping is all depending on the offerings of the people, and that the priest's salary is small, etc, so that is why we give offerings. It is not a ''must''.
I also want to add that I think it is very inappropriate to discuss ''such stuff in church''! What a way to push people away!! :O
P.S. You will not be ''not'' rewarded simply because you don't go to church. God looks at the love with which we help others, and show kindness. He is a loving God. So don't worry about your afterlife. He'll take care of you.

Somebody asked. God must've blessed them to put them in a position where they could afford it, I remember my mother getting stressed about it. I also remember certain well off people using the young adults of the church for free baby sitting and child minding etc (He was a solicitor and she worked in Social Services).
@GeniUs: it all depends on how you were raised. I was raised by old parents with old way of thinking, so it was constantly the "punishing God". With the years, I took religious classes, had nuns and priests as friends, and learned a lot more to open my mind to the loving God... He's our father. He won't abandon us. He loves us. But we must always strive to be good children to him. By loving others, we love him because he lives in all the hearts of everyone.

But I also have to believe in him which I no longer do. (I seem to remember once you've accepted him (and there's another quandry 'him'), in your life you've got the afterlife. But really (and I know I won't change your mind so I'm not trying to) when I thought about it religion is really based on a few manuscripts written up to 2,500 years ago when people really didn't have a clue what was going on and faith. Nothing really, no more than if I told you I was god.
I am sad that you don't believe in Him, but I will not try to change your mind. So, in essence, I was right when I told Martin that this video must be about you not believing in God and mocking us.

Really.

Then you should not post stuff under "I am religious." You obviously are not.

One day, your mind will open. One day, when you go through pain or deep sadness, your faith may come back.

Remember: faith is not how much you put in the basket of collection. It's about accepting him as your Creator. Seeing him as your Father.

No. after leaving religion behind life became easier. The video has a valid question: If religion makes you happy, why are you so sad? This may or may not apply to you, it did to me (and many others on this message forum) and leaving religion behind didn't instantly make me happy but things got better without another set of rules binding my actions, a set of rules which said if I do wrong I'm a sinner but if I do something right it was god. Doesn't work for me.
