I Love My Hobbies
I'm really into kendama and I have been for the past year and change. It is a Japanese wooden skill-toy that literally translates into "sword ball" but it doesn't have a real sword - or metal. It's just wood and it's more like a cup and ball sort of thing.
I just have gotten into it so much. I like to think I have gotten pretty good, but then I watch things like the Zoomadanke performance duo and I realize I still am TERRIBLE!
It is such a great activity though, it teaches that things that seem impossible can become possible, through dedication to a craft and the repetition brought on by practice. It really is a great thing and adds to many sections of life.
In addition, I very rarely drop something now - and NOT catch it, or at least ease it's fall. It's not like I can catch a cup of tea, a la "the matrix", but the cup without the tea - sure!
Anyway, if you have the spare $30, buy one. Maybe from Sol Kendama's or Ronin... they are smaller companies but with great products. I find it's a lot more fun to play kendama than to stare at your phone's screen.
Well, unless you're playing pokemon... but luckily the two add together like hot sauce and pizza!
