I Exercise Regularly

I prefer high-intensity, rigorous exercise for short bursts to marathon-like, low-intensity-spread-out-over-a-longer-timespan type exercise.

The first type is less time-consuming, and I think it's better in a number of ways.

On days that otherwise would be my cardio days, I do maybe 7 sets of +-20 seconds rigorous exercise with around 2-3 minutes breaks in-between (and I'm done with it after around 15 minutes as opposed to 60 minutes of cardio)--the idea is to push yourself hard or hard as you can (honestly, I don't know if I've ever pushed myself as hard as I can).

And I mix up the workouts: sprinting; mountain climber; high knees; cycling at the gym; elliptical at the gym (without working the arms); rope.

Here and there during the day and/or night, I'll also do some high knees during a break.

Sounds good to me. As much as I like going on long runs and can handle them well, health and fitness wise, I prefer doing what you suggested, rigorous exercise for short bursts so like a set or 10 or 20 or short hill sprints 50m at about 75% of my max. I also think it improves fitness much faster and is also better for weight loss if that's something your focusing on. I'm not an expert but that's just how it feels to me.

@Andrew19EightyFive Wow I totally agree with this guy, in fact it's just what I've been doing since I was about 15. I could summarize my life by saying, hill sprints (ok and surfing), vegetables (i'm addicted to spinach leaves)and avoiding stress as much as possible. I have my weak moments where I fall down but listening to this guy gets me motivated again. Thanks for sharing!

@SW-User Welcome. 🙂

I like dark, green leafy food like spinach and kale--been trying to eat more of that sort of thing lately. And personally, I prefer not to cook them, but eat them raw (after thoroughly rinsing or washing them).

What I do is take my protein shake bottle, put the spinach, beans, kale, etc. in their with water and shake x2.

@Andrew19EightyFive I can’t decide between uncooked veg vs cooked. The reason is that I often prefer eating vegetables raw but cooking condenses them down and means it’s easier to eat more. Like spinach leaves for instance. 100g is a huge bowl to eat but lightly sautéed and it becomes a small cup etc. I also love raw green vegetable juice especially with cucumber. What do you take for protein?

@SW-User Personally, I wouldn't boil them, as I think the goodness or nutrients leach away into the water.

Potatoes I usually have baked in the oven, but otherwise, I usually have the veggies raw (personally).

I'm not an expert on cooking veggies, but maybe in a sense it's better to cook them, say as with a stir fry. I'd imagine that you'd lose less, if any, of the nutrients that way.

For protein (what comes to mind), I have oats, milk, eggs, chicken, fish and steak.

I can imagine that soon I'm also going to start having flaxseeds, pumpkin seeds and other stuff.

@Andrew19EightyFive I'm pretty much the same, I don't ever boil vegetables for the reason you said. I mostly stir fry them but a lot i prefer to eat raw especially carrots. I've heard that flaxseeds are supposed to be really good although I don't know alot about them.

@SW-User I don't know all the details, but I can imagine that flaxseeds would be one of the foods you'd take if you want to bulk up more without resorting to unhealthy foods.
