I Watch Pbs

I just watched the latest episode of NOVA on PBS entitled poison water. It was about the water crises in Flint MI. It literally brought tears to my eyes to see how the city of Flint the state of Michigan employed cover ups and falsified testing procedures that has caused irreparable damage and illness to the residents and primarily the children of Flint in just a few month's time. I literally live about 50 miles from Flint and, of course, I've heard about the problems happening right under my nose, but I've never heard the entire situation until now. It's a pitty to see how the folks of Flint have been left on the back burner. Flint played such a pivotal role in the upbringing out the automotive industry and it's a shame to see the decline in the city just because out the pull out of major auto manufacturers. Now this shit? Is a damn shame!

A lot of people blame short sighted, profit motivated US auto manufacturers for the demise of the US auto industry.

When will someone with balls point out how US tax policies, unpredictable regulatory mandates and liability risks force those manufacturers to focus on short term profits?

@Heartlander: you said it. The U.S. is the lagest enemy to is own lagest industrial product. Pretty damn sad if you ask me. Back in the 50s and 60s Flint and Detroit had some of the highest per household incomes in the country, now look at them.

It's sad to see that in America "the land of milk and honey" people live like that. So many inconsiderate people say that the victims should move but they fail to realize that it is not that easy for many.

@Angelwithbrokenwingxo: the lack of income prevents people from moving. They simply can not afford it. A good majority of them can't afford the $25 water filters they need to make their water drinkable. It's awful to think that these folks who can't afford much had to pay for the water that's killing them.
