I Hate Going to the Dentist

Although I'm grateful for local anesthetics, I hate the after effects. It'll be nice when I don't have to consciously take time every few minutes to make sure that I'm not chewing the inside of my face to shreds. 馃槤

And to think because I've had very little dental work when I started my training I actually used to want to be numbed up. I tried the topical gel, local, and had some sedation. :-) now that was fun...

@Peppa I hate sedation of any kind. It totally freaks me out. The topical gel is fine, and the local is bearable. Full on out, though, it gives me anxiety. I understand the necessity, it's just a weird thing for me.

@Peppa

I have had nitrous oxide twice for oral surgery. I was so serene and relaxed, just exquisite.

@Byron8by7 My son is really hoping that I'll get the gas when I have my wisdom teeth removed. He wants to see me loopy. Stinker.

@Byron8by7 @QueenofCups it really is the best I haven't ever had intravenous but that's the stuff that gets you talking all your secrets lol. The things I've heard but I think my experience may have been better because I was with a pediatric dentist. And their techniques are different they want to soothe you. Whereas I think oral surgeons should adopt a similar approach but they are the roughest of all the dentists. So if you have a good experience with an oral surgeon you can tolerate any dentist.
Honestly the sensation for me was like when your on the incline of a ride but you never dip like a rollercoaster does and the air is so cool and refreshing it tastes as clean as it actually is. It's euphoric
