I Think Men Should Act Like Men

There is this colleague at the workplace who annoys me to no end - a young chap who looks for loopholes all the time in other people's work. Instead of being straightforward and telling it as it is like a real man, he hides behind fake smileys and nervous laughs when I tell him the way I see it. Come on, just say it like a man. Let it off your chest once and for all. I can take it. What I cannot take is the sneaky way he pokes. Not honourable at all. Seriously, a man should act like a man.

Uck. 😖 I don’t like that behavior in either gender.

@JustNik i know right. I detest it very much. But I find I'm less tolerant when I see it in a man. Maybe in my mind, I expect a man to be straightforward. If he needs to yell, just yell. And after that, let go of it.

@JustNik truth ☝️
Funny that. I am Transwoman and I'm painfully straight forward especially in how I express myself. I'm not even trying to be a man and it seems I'm doing a better job than whoever you're describing.
@novembermoon I AM Sensitive but there's no need to be indirect...

@novembermoon Gender isn't really a clean thing like people conceptualize. I'm not sure I even should Identify as T instead of nonbinary. People don't fit in rigid boxes. I've got SOME masculine traits and a whole lot of feminine ones.

Case in point one of the things I DO that is masculine is I'm assertive.

On the feminine side I'm submissive, Nurturing and emotional...

That behaviour is a sign of how childish our society is becoming. It is true that we men lately fall into that trap more often. We feel pressured to be 'kind' and 'pleasant'.
novembermoon · 51-55
@Cierzo yes. I hate that we have to appear kind and understanding all the time. We're people, not mannequins.

@novembermoon Being an adult is accepting without drama some moments we will be happy and others sad, some times require to be soft and others to be hard.

I wonder how other colleagues react to his action.
novembermoon · 51-55
@Sssslm everyone says he's a pain in the ass.

@novembermoon it s better than when no one feels that except you. I have that situation often, and I guess other people face similar situations at different times too.

As you're so straight talking, you have of course told him how you feel.

So how did he respond to being told that he needs to act more like a man?
novembermoon · 51-55
@Pseudonym maybe it's just me. I don't like men to be clownish or to hide behind fake smiles when discussing things. I told him my perspective of the work matter, yes. I told him my reasons. But mannerisms are a personal thing. Not my business to tell him how to behave. That's his mama' s job, maybe.
I don't think that even has to do with a stereotype.
