"Health risks increase when drinking exceeds two to three drinks per day." [I Like Psychology]

How can that be true? Is that to say that a person who has three alcoholic beverages per day, is not at any sort of health risk? Three drinks per day seems like a lot.

Remember, it said "exceeds", not "meets".

I think if you have >3 drinks every day you will get cirrhosis. It's just statistics, of course it's dangerous to drink that much every day, but like if you have two drinks every day you might not get cirrhosis, whereas if you have 3+ drinks every day you will get it for sure.

@HannibalAteMeOut I confuse... Every amount mentioned, so far, sounds like a path the cirrhosis, to me.

@SinlessOnslaught it's about being sure versus probability. If you have x amount of grams of alcohol in your blood every day, you will sure end up with cirrhosis (I don't remember the grams right now but I could find them tomorrow). But if you have less than x grams every day, you might or you might not end up with it.

@HannibalAteMeOut Oh so it's just talking about what we know, instead of what might happen.

@SinlessOnslaught yeah, because everyone is different. As a simpler example you can take this (kinda tmi for some but oh well it's natural lol): the normal amount of times for defecating range from 3 times per day to 3 times per week. Now a person might say "wtf who does that 3 times per day?" or "only 3 times per week?". However these are general standards and the personal standards are different. So yeah drinking two glasses of wine might not be healthy for most people however there are those who might not get affected.

@HannibalAteMeOut So how do you handle all that uncertainty in the real, medical world?
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
@SinlessOnslaught two ways: teaching prevention and if that doesn't work, treatment. I tell you what the standards are and what's best for you personally to follow. If you don't follow them and something happens to you we'll have to treat you. We work with statistics all the time and the more the populations and their habits shift, the more work we have to do. For example decades ago, lung cancer for women wasn't a thing. Now that we have equality and women smoke as much as men you bet the statistics have changed as well.

@HannibalAteMeOut I actually did go to hospital today and it was horrible. Well, not the hospital because they helped. But the reason for going was horrible.
