The New York Yankees....the first team I was ever a fan of (dating back to 1960).
My grandfather taught me that you “root for the home team”, and at the time the Giants and Dodgers had both moved out of New York (to San Francisco and Los Angeles respectively) and the NY Mets had not come into existence yet.
Despite the fact that Grandpa had been a NY Giants fan and that Dad had grown up as a Brooklyn Dodgers fan, they both told me that the team I should be a fan of was the Yankees....the only home team at the time.
There are other teams I like, but the Yankees will always be “my team”.
