I Love Old Movies

I watched the original Cape Fear last night. Gregory Peck and Robert Mitchum as mortal adversaries. What an intensely powerful leading combination. The atmosphere is sooo dark and menacing and the performances from these two masterful actors was incredible. I can't wait to see it again. Robert Mitchum was especially good. Highly recommended if you like old thrillers.

One of my film noir favorites. The remake with Nick Nolte and Robert deNiro ain't bad either!

Have you watched Night of the Hunter? Recommended

@Mikemcneil I have actually yes a few years ago. I agree it was also a good one. Creepy but great. I was thinking I should take another look.
It was a black and white, right? I never saw that one. I did see the DeNiro one. He was so menacing. Good old actors. And love the black and white movies too.

@PoetryNEmotion Yes its B&W I'm guessing mid-1950's. I did see the DeNiro remake which I also liked. I do have a particular liking for Peck & Mitchum and old B&W movies in general so the original is my favourite. The Max Cady character is pure evil.
@mkoz70 Mitchum was some fine actor. So many were. I will have to watch more of the old ones.
Yes ! Psychological thrillers are so much better than the slash’em ups that came to be popular.

@bijouxbroussard Oh I agree. I don't like slasher films. Modern ones are too realistic and graphic. Psychological thrillers all the way. A good story line draws you in and you're emotionally involved. It takes more talent to achieve that I think.
