Win if you can, lose if you must. But, always cheat.

@SW-User Did someone really give you this advice? How old were you?
SW-User
@Mindful Yes, when I was a teenager.
Mindful · 56-60, F
@SW-User may I ask you, was it a close family member or friend who gave you this advice?
SW-User
@Mindful It was my parents. "Look out for number one" they told me. It has served me very well.
Mindful · 56-60, F
@SW-User lol, yes, I have heard about “looking out for number one” and there real value in that. I have just never thought this included or meant cheating.

Since your parents gave you that advice and since you followed it, are they proud of who you are today?
SW-User
@Mindful Yes. I have no debts, own my house.
Mindful · 56-60, F
@SW-User that is an accomplishment. I am not surprised you own a house, with zero debt, that’s a common goal where I’m from. However I am surprised by the cheating method. It’s very a different lifestyle than those I share life with, so I appreciate your honesty.
SW-User
@Mindful It's all in how you look at it.
Mindful · 56-60, F
@SW-User well, I think it’s easier if parents are the ones who introduce the concept. My parents would be opposed to that train of thought. But it is a skill that I’m sure takes practice. I have most definitely come across such persons who think as you do.
SW-User
@Mindful Well, I've stayed out of trouble. Learned how to save. I take responsibility for my actions. I read a lot while others were getting high and drunk. Most important, I minded my own business.
Mindful · 56-60, F
@SW-User interesting! So you are careful about it, and you have made healthy choices.
SW-User
@Mindful I have. Had a hangover once, never did it again. Never smoked or did drugs. I only have one body to take care of, I don't get a spare in case of emergency.
Mindful · 56-60, F
@SW-User true. In that sense, those are very healthy thoughts. So your parents definitely gave you healthy stimulating advice. I’m not comfortable with always cheat. Cheat, to survive, as in, escape from a trap. But always cheat? How can any one govern themselves around some one who... always cheats. It’s a foreign concept so it could be that I don’t understand how it was taught. I know some men always cheat on their wives. Maybe they always cheat in general? It’s late and my brain isn’t working. Bedtime. Excuse me, thanks for sharing.

@Mindful It's more of a philosophical phrase than a literal one. I'm against cheating on one's spouse. But, be sure and pick the right one instead of picking one right away.
Mindful · 56-60, F
@SW-User okay, good to know.

hmmm that’s a cute and wise quote! Did you pick a spouse?
SW-User
@Mindful Not yet, still keeping an eye out though.
