My grandmas advice was : read the Bible and finish it in one year. Be good
My fathers advice was: work hard now and you won’t have to work hard when your old
My mothers was: get a degree, earn enough money so that you don’t ever have to be stuck in a relationship because of money.
My church: Believe and follow Jesus’ example.
My boyfriend: be grateful
Myself: know yourself and admit the truth whether it’s good or bad.

If everyone put their problems on the table you'd still choose to have yours instead of theirs, or something like that. Basically we all have problems so don't be so hard on yourself.

But in general I think ‘Desiderata’ is pretty spot-on.

@Picklebobble2 it has similar phrases from the book of Proverbs, but with a little bit of a twist, some inclusive modern concepts. Thanks for the authors name.

@Mindful It's more of a philosophical phrase than a literal one. I'm against cheating on one's spouse. But, be sure and pick the right one instead of picking one right away.

@SW-User okay, good to know.
hmmm that’s a cute and wise quote! Did you pick a spouse?

There are two stories.
The one established by science and the one in the Holy Bible.

I remember this advice Wee Wee gave me loooong time ago, he didn’t realize how that would impact positively my decision. But it was one of the best ones I’ve ever received. Not saying what it was though 😌.

To really grasp and nurture a sense of love, for others.
I ask you, what would this world be like, if everyone did?
