I Notice Everything But Dont Say Anything
Not my place.
I notice everything but don't say anything. And why don't I say anything? Because it's not my place to say anything... Why should I say anything? Some things are better left the way they are... Some things are better left unsaid.
One of these things - a prime example of the point I am trying to make - is my manager, Micheal. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Micheal uses drugs. Khat to be specific. Do I have any proof? No... Of course not. I ba<x>se this allegation solely on my observations of him over the past four months. But once I started noticing it - it became blatantly obvious. As a recreational Khat user, I can spot other Khat users from a mile a way. As they say; it takes one to know one.
But why don't I say or do anything about it? Firstly, that would make me a giant hypocrite. I use khat too, so I really don't get to judge. Secondly, it is not my place to get involved. His drug usage is his business, and it is no concern of mine... Even though he does it at work and during work hours. If it became a problem, sure - but its not. It is actually the reason that he is one of the fastest and most efficient barmen in town. The khat gives him an edge... So not only do I keep his drug usage to myself, but I actually condone it.
But I will never say anything about it, not even to him. It is not my place to. Just as by now he should have noticed that I, also use khat at work. And he doesn't say a thing. Its an unspoken thing. And it works better this way. Once it is spoken, it will have to be acknowledged and dealt with. But as long as it remains unspoken, we can both notice everything and say nothing... Just as it is meant to be. It makes for a fun and easy work environment.
