I am in a difficult situation and don't really know how to handle it?

My best friend broke up with her boyfriend a few months ago, because she doesn't love him anymore. They were together for four years. He messaged me today asking if we could meet up and talk about what is going on because he doesn't have anyone to talk too. He has suffered with depression in the past and I feel like I should meet him but obviously it is very strange because of my best friend, but I know that if I tell her I'm meeting him she will contact him and have an argument with him. I really don't know what to do? I want to be a good person and help someone, but I also don't want to hurt my friend.

I would tell him that you dont want to be in the middle of anything.

What if you told your friend about his request and ask her whether it would bother her for you to meet with him?

If she says no, then meet him.

If she says yes, then you can tell him that that's why you will not.

wow could it be more of an emotional drama, it has smacks of betrayal ,being helpful, walking on ice,not pleasing anyone ,keeping secrets,a no win situation.risks of losing friendships i cant find an upside sorry, idk what id do 😕

She broke up with him because she's no-longer in love, yet she'd fight him just for speaking to you, someone who presumably was also part of the life they shared for four years? She doesn't sound like a person I'd like to remain good friends with. I'd start distancing myself from the situation entirely, from both of them, because it sounds like there might be some drama about suspicions about you too somewhere in the mix; just my thoughts based on the little you've shared.

You should take the side of your best friend, and politely tell him this doesn't work for you.

If she is your best friend, be open and tell her you want to go meet him.. and go. Helping people in need is not bad, getting involved though more intimately in this situation will be catastrophic lol
