What are the steps I need to take to sue my college?

They gave my refund extremely late and I’m supposed to receive $3000 but they’re only giving me $300. I don’t know what they did with the rest of my money. Should I hire a lawyer?

Inquire with them directly first. Build a paper trail.
i would start by discussing it in detail with them and requesting all documentation regarding the discrepancy in writing.

If you're not satisfied and/or they won't put it in writing, contact an attorney.

It may have been an accounting error you can resolve on your own. Lawyers want your money and avoid them if you can communicate in a civil way and avoid court.

As others have said, put it in writing. The checks are all cut by computer and computers are only as smart as the person operating them. And who hasn't hit "send" a bit too soon before?

Talk to one. They'll probably ask you a bunch of questions to help build a case.
It probably went to pay your tuition.
