Anyone know about day trading?

Years ago, I went to a lecture presented by Learning Annex in Los Angeles on the subject of making money at day trading stocks. The lecture was given by a young woman who had made a fortune day trading. She began the lecture by saying, "Yes, I did make over a million dollars day trading stocks. But YOU cannot do what I did. You will not be able to do it, so don't think you can. I am not the usual trader; I had some advantages which you won't have. You will lose your money, so don't even try to do what I did." The rest of her one hour lecture elaborated on that theme. She mentioned that her biggest advantage was in having a really good teacher. He was present at the lecture and she pointed him out. He spoke briefly saying he did not teach anymore. He agreed with her that we should not even attempt day trading.

This was, to say the least, discouraging. I gave up the idea and got a regular stressful job and now have retired from that job. I am currently living in one rented room on a low income.

But I am once again considering trying stock trading as a way to supplement my income. The lecture I went to was back in about 1989 or 90. Maybe I could find a way to make some money day trading. Anyone have any thoughts about this? Anyone here who has tried it...?
I did think about day trading and did a lot of reading up on it. The most honest advice I saw from respected financial websites and authors was that it is extremely difficult to make money and incredibly easy to lose it.
@LukeTheDuke what conservative plans would earn anyone anything?

Don't try day trading unless you are using money you can afford to lose..

@GJOFJ3 Isn't that true about any kind of investment?

@greenmountaingal to a certain extent, but there are some very good conservative funds that give a decent return and are quite safe
