What kind of phone interview advice do you have?

I haven't interviewed in almost a year. I'm nervous I have a phone interview tomorrow.

I know about the company and the services they provide.
I know why I want to work there.
I have my "about me" ready. I have my strengths and weakness ready, along with explanations.
I also have questions that I want to ask them.

I don't want to have too much ready since i don't want to sound rehearsed.

What else should I do to prepare?

I really hope I don't miss the call. It'll be during my lunch break at work, in which I'll have to clock out and run to my car.

I’ve done them and it’s tough because you can’t get a read on their facial expressions. Have a copy of your resume and cover letter ready along with a copy of the job posting so you can refer to them if you get stuck. Make sure you have some questions ready.
Also since you can’t see them, don’t babble a bunch of fluff to fill dead space. If their question is answered and you don’t hear anything, they are probably just writing stuff down. And babbling will use up what sounds like a short window if you are on your lunch break.

@Firegod74 ty. My resume is pretty short so i got that. I jotted key items from job post. I have everything in my car already so i wont leave anything behind

So how did it go? @iamnikki

On phone interviews try and get your personality to come through. It's hard to get that if it's not in person. People tend to be cautious on the phone but it helps if people have a sense of who you are.

@HannahSky how do I do that?

@iamnikki Be yourself answering questions. Sometimes people just say the answer, and it might be correct, but flat. If it's like you to say something from experience, say it. If it's like you to clarify what you meant, do that etc. It's ok to enjoy the interview.

Regardless of what else you do or say, smile a lot whether it's voice only or video. For voice only, they will sense your excitement for the job. Good luck.

You sound ready, so they accepted your request for a 12pm interview?
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@Tminus6453 thanks. yes, she claims the 10am that I saw was a glitch/error and that her screen read 12p...I see 10am, I'm sure of it but noon has been confirmed so.. I just hope I don' miss the call
