I’ve done something stupid ...and joined a site where you meet like minded people..

If you know what I mean. He asked me for a pic so I sent one from my own email address to his. Will he know know who I am? Please don’t judge before you know my circumstances.,,
I don't know, dear. Just be safe.
@TicketyBoo I think you'll be okay. Just be careful in the future.
TicketyBoo · 61-69, F
Thank you I will be careful from now on. I hope this doesn’t come back on me@LadyGrace
@TicketyBoo No. I think it will be just fine. Try not to worry okay?

I am not going to try to scare you ,just make you aware
How much info there is about you on the net makes a huge difference
Someone gathered enough info about me to get ID in my name and was close to buying a car
Now the net is flooded with fake info about me and no links left that can put my family in harms way
But scammers live off the information of others
The more info they can collect about you ,the more valuable it is
I would not be saying "I don't know "
I would Google search my name ,and see what comes up
how much of it I could remove and secure the things you can't
Its not just myself I put in danger ,I put my family in harms way too ,,friends lists are good and bad
they go after their info too
rckt148 · 61-69, M
@TicketyBoo It is ,as long as the one that is yours is secure .no info can be gathered from it .
I was stupid ,I had video's online with links back to Google and face book .
You get a friend request from someone that seems to know a lot about you ,you accept it
They send out one reveres engineered chain mail
"saying pass this on to your friends " and most people share them ,and soon they not only have all your friends names and whatever info ,but now they get all their friends names too .they have people that don't do anything but collect names that can be linked back to an e mail account they can verify ,(thats why a verification not linked to an actual IP address is worthless ,you can make fake accounts just for such purposes ),,
Secure who you want to see that info and verify what ever can come up has no personal info that can be exploited

I’m so naive with these things. I just didn’t think but was shocked when I saw a reply on my phone as I thought he d email me through the site. I’m learning though, no fool like an ole one@rckt148

@TicketyBoo Yea I learned the hard way
My son in law runs his company over the net ,its very secure but ,,someone hacked Wall Street ,Wells Fargo ,my bank
The records of the Vets and Yahoo,so how secure is anything ?
I am thankful Google spotted suspicious inquiries and activities concerning my name and reported it to the FBI ,,
I thought the Emails from the FBI was a scam until my ATM card wouldn't work and I was told the FBI sealed my account and I needed to contact them ,(by my bank ,they seized my social medial accounts too )it was a mess proving who I am and they were the fakes ,,
So I warn friends all the time ,,Be careful and stop sending me chain mail ,,
A friend I warned over and over about this ..
I get a private message ,that he is trying to figure out how to spend a $90.000.00 grant he just was approved for
Wanted to know if I had applied for mine ,
Sends me a link ,,I had other friends that got the same message
They were asked for their banking info ,,they needed an account and routing numbers ,,"to send their money to"
I warned my grandson just in time ,he was about to give them the information .

It was not my friend ,,,but he caused it for not listening
all of his friends got that message ,and some of my friends only friended him because he is a friend of mine
now he can call me on the phone ,he is no longer on any of my contacts ,he put my family in harms way for being so stupid ,,I warned him this could happen

Unless you have real reason to suspect he'll track you down I would try not to stress too much. If he doesn't know where you live beyond a country it'll be difficult to trace too much.

A lesson learnt set up ticktyboo@gmail.com or something similar for contacts
Well, you should really always set up a different e-mail address for these things and log in through the Tor network.

I’m feeling stupid, really stupid. I’m married , so is he and I thought it was a good idea, now I’m not sure what to,do@EugenieLaBorgia
@TicketyBoo I wouldn't worry too much.
ravenwind43 · 51-55, F
If you use your real name in your email then it's possible if he wanted to look you up on FB or something like that. Otherwise you are probably fine.
TicketyBoo · 61-69, F
I’m not on Facebook but I’m so worried my surname will be on.@ravenwind43
ravenwind43 · 51-55, F
@TicketyBoo I wouldn't be overly concerned unless you told him personal things like address...etc
TicketyBoo · 61-69, F
No, only county nothing else@ravenwind43

Sounds familiar. When I was on another site, I sent my personal email to people who I thought were nice friends. Huge mistake. I sent pics too.

Wish I never would have. But you live and learn. I dont do that anymore.
SW-User
How would that let him know who you are? Do you have a lot of information shared on your email account?
TicketyBoo · 61-69, F
I’m so sorry I’m not even sure .. I just never thought but he seemed nice and I sent him a pic@SW-User
SW-User
@TicketyBoo likely that let him know your email address and only your email address
TicketyBoo · 61-69, F
I’m stupid, I know I am. He replied with a message saying ‘thanks, nice photo’ ...@SW-User
curiosi · 61-69, F
It's done, can't turn back time so try not to stress out over something that is probably fine. Very rare someone has a name that no one else does. If he googles you he may find variations of your name all over the country.
TicketyBoo · 61-69, F
I do hope so. He was respectful, but I’m a old fool@curiosi
curiosi · 61-69, F
@TicketyBoo See you are clear enough to remember that he was respectful. Bad people show you who they are.
TicketyBoo · 61-69, F
I’m hoping so anyway. He seemed nice but you just never know@curiosi
helenS · 36-40, F
Does your email address contain your real name?
TicketyBoo · 61-69, F
You have no idea what that would do@helenS
helenS · 36-40, F
@TicketyBoo Ok sorry.
TicketyBoo · 61-69, F
His health has not been well, I just felt lonely. Trust me to mess things up@helenS
