If you talk like Mike Tyson, both are silent...🤔 😅

Longleggedlady · 31-35, F
@wildbill83 but they correct way is if to speak like him
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
In his case, scent would sound more like thent...🤔
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
The c is silent when used with an s... In this case, but English is strange.
Longleggedlady · 31-35, F

@Longleggedlady I said in this case, it's not a rule it's an explanation
maturedragon · 26-30, M
to me the letter c is silent
Longleggedlady · 31-35, F
@maturedragon but you could say Cent and it would sound same as scent does
maturedragon · 26-30, M
@Longleggedlady yep lol or sent
[c=#359E00]i read that without silent C or S[/c]

The rule in English is that when the redundant c follows an s it's silent with a few exceptions. The exceptions of words like sceptic or and sclerosis are sometimes written with a k to distinguish them from words like scissors or ascend.

Hmm.. I think we can eliminate the alphabet'C' from English alphabets, if we start to use K and S where C sounds like them. What do you think about that?
The 'c', ofc, bc 's' only ever makes that sound and 'c' is a chameleon and a slut...combining with 'h'...sheesh! 😉

If I was to guess I would say that neither one is silent because there is no need for it to be.
