Does anyone else find it annoying when people don't seem to recognise the difference between "lead" and "led"?

Yes, but no more annoying than the usual other errors. I don't see that one as much as some of the others.

lead, a soft metal element which contains such. (don't make things out of it or the snowflakes will sue you.)

LED light emitting diode.

Unless you mean lead like the metal, then it sounds like led.

especially when they're trying to name a band

I think it might be because of red and read. They sound the same, but read is the past tense of read. Perhaps people think lead is the past tense of lead.

If it's referring to you, no matter how you use it, in the wrong hands, both will be deadly
