I think a lot has to do with body language and attitude. And if your username is anything like your real personality (and age), then maybe that's the message you're sending out to people..even if you smile and look normal on the outside.

Ive been told i am intimidating to approach as well. Im also kind of tall at 5'8. Who cares though really, id rather someone like me for what i really do act like because fake smiling gets painful.

Try to smile more... even just to stretch your face sometimes... especially when people speak to you... it will make you more approachable.
