What conspiracies do you find interesting or do you think have merit?

Are there any conspiracies that you believe in?
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
Not very many. Most people I know cannot keep a secret and yet most conspiracies depend upon thousands of people keeping a secret. Simply not possible in 99% of cases.

@MarsSword: Just one more aside on "being 'one' with the Father'": You are falling back on the book of Genesis? Where God is quoted as saying "Let US make man in OUR image...."? Those stories can only come to us from Adam as he told them to his children over the course of his lifetime (many centuries). I challenge you to tell me the same story verbatim two days running and not mistake a phrase. Now again, I challenge the listener to that story to commit it to writing (I believe Adam was illiterate??) many centuries later and then have it consecrated by a person in authority to be the immutable truth and now tell me that it IS an immutable truth!
I guess you see there MIGHT be room for error?
What MIGHT the most convenient interpretation be? AND again: I wasn't there!
@JollyRoger: I definately see and share some of the same thoughts about the infallibility of scripture but find it hard to find another source to base one's faith upon.

As for C.S. Lewis, I would highly recommend reading his book "Mere Christianity" as he tackles man hard truths of the Christian faith from a non scriptural perspective which I think you would appreciate and enjoy.

@MarsSword: Why would you NEED any specific source to base your faith upon? Your faith is just that"Faith" - it's your BELIEF. Nobody can take it from you...only you can change it.
Comparisons are a good way to discern what might be a better belief, but I still adhere to Christianity because it teaches 'goodness' AND it gives a clear promise that God (the purpose of any belief) will reward me for simply having a 'good' soul.
Jesus was a Jew. He was sent to change Judaism to be socially based as it had developed into a religion based on laws only, i.e., God would be offended if you 'broke' a law and atonement was required or all Jews would suffer. Islam is similar: you are back to believing that other laws and deeds govern your reward. Hinduism is a hierarchical system where you have to 'earn' your way up.
So: 'Do good' is simple. Why complicate your beliefs?

It's not a matter of belief; either you think there's enough evidence to prove it happened, or enough to encourage further investigation or not enough for either.

Factual: A CIA paid asset arranged the assassination of Martin Luther king Jr.

Further investigation: The death of Gary Webb, author of the Pulitzer winning articles, "Dark Alliance." It was judged a suicide but that is questionable. (Webb was shot in the head...twice).
I say belief because the evidence and facts are debated often.

Oh yeah.... The Kennedy assassination is at the top of the list in the world.
@toddr13: Hmmmm

Here's a URL that will bring all arguments together! I watched this in total disbelief. Use a bit of rational thinking if/when you watch it because it is THE CONSPIRACY THEORY TO TOP ALL CONSPIRACY THEORIES!

@JollyRoger: I will definately watch that and get back to you. With my critical thinking hat on... ;) But it might take a while to get the time.

Illuminati and 9/11.
Rothschilds too but wait that's the truth.
@QueenOfQuirk: There is a lot of interesting shadows surrounding the most powerful families... some of them we might have put there... others might be more sinister. Something interesting to consider to be sure.
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
@Challenger1 Actually, the ability to control a lot of the weather has been available to world governments for at least 20 years.
@greenmountaingal I would be very interested to read more about this if you can point me to some articles. I can think of some current circumstances where this would be useful and is not used.

Jews control world banks, are responsible for world debt and control the media.
9/11 was an inside job
The Rothschilds are the richest in the world
JFK was assassinated by the Federal Reserve
Princess Diana was murdered by the royal family.

I think conspiracies have the same merit that any fictional story has. I love stories...they can say alot about a little...even if it's mostly bullshit. :)
@Scribbles Some of them over the years have turned out to be true and when it came to light it changed a lot of things. So I think we should be careful to do our research and be neither gullible nor willfully ignorant.
Scribbles · 36-40, F
@Challenger1 True.
Have you ever seen this old tv show hosted by Jonathan Frakes called "Beyond Belief"? They presented stories and then you were supposed to try to figure out if it was fact or fiction. I really liked that show. lol
@Scribbles I have not, but sounds interesting.

Illuminati?...
JollyRoger · 70-79, M
Good one.... Don't know so much if it's a conspiracy as much as just a 'fact of our existence' that most people don't think about.
@ShadowShifter: What do you think? A super elitist culture that is pulling the strings behind governments?
SW-User
I could see either side. So I don't know. I wouldn't be surprised either way.
The MLK assasination involving more than James Earl Ray.
The Russian hackers and James Comey's 11th hour "announcement" being part of a conspiracy that changed the outcome of the election.
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@greenmountaingal: Yes, but do you really think we know all there is to know about that one?
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
@sarabee1995: No, of course not. History will reveal more and no one will ever know it all. But the basic facts have been established and King's assassin was not Ray but a CIA paid asset.
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
@Challenger1 This has been adjudicated in court. The CIA settled a lawsuit with the King family. The CIA admitted they hired someone who used Ray as a patsy in the King assassination and that someone killed King. This is not a "conspiracy theory." It was a conspiracy and is now considered historical fact by most historians..
