I can’t really support Trump or his actions...but I don’t think I’ve ever been tempted to block or mute anyone here who supports him.

Because...we have other things in common, other things we can talk about, other likes we all share.

If you block someone just because of their politics, if you let the discussion fall into incivility, you build up an echo chamber. And that’s no good for society, on SW and off. Accept each others viewpoints, and move on. We’re not kids scrapping at the playground.

I dont block them either.
I enjoy watching them make fools of themselves.
Greatest president ever etc etc 🤦‍♀️

well said yes. So many have blocked me and I do not even have a clue about who they are or why.
deadgerbil · 22-25
Recently I got blocked by a Trump supporter who said I was a trans liberal based on my profile pic lol

It'd be great if everyone would take it down a notch lol
revenant · F
@deadgerbil I know who it is and he blocked me too.
deadgerbil · 22-25
@revenant he's one of several people on here who are very unhinged; even talking about the most objective aspects of reality would send him on a liberal bashing tirade. I can picture him gnashing his teeth and being convulsed following the homophobic, misogynistic, and bigoted rant he went on across several posts.
revenant · F
@deadgerbil He went into a rage all of a sudden. I found that very strange. He blocked somebody else also on the same question ! what an inoffensive question it was too !

I always try to find common ground. I block both supporters and non-supporters over chronic verbal abusive behavior arguments towards others. It's not necessarily political. I just refuse to deal with someone else's anger issues and negativity.

I've just been made aware of the reason for this post. I find most users aren't capable of maintaining civility when it comes to politics on this site. You might start out civil but it always seems to break down. People don't know how to properly debate an issue anymore and aren't capable of putting aside their differences. It's on both sides of the fence. I don't see why anyone needs to put up with anything they don't want to deal with. While I try to find common ground with people I don't agree with, everyone's tolerance level is different. They have the right to block people they don't feel like seeing or interacting with.

Ha ! That happens all the time !
Longpatrol · 31-35, M
@TexChik i’m hoping over time people learn to just relax. Too idealistic of me?
TexChik · F
@Longpatrol likely . A girl I have been nothing but kind to for years did that because I disagreed with her assertion that Trump is a racist. She happened to be dating an illegal .

I've got a lot of the more vocal ones blocked because it's just static to my brain. I'm not having the same conversation over and over and over again without getting anywhere. So instead, I interact with the people who help me stay positive and centered.

I completely respect not doing it though; it's just something I can't have for my mental health at this point. 🤔
Budwick · 70-79, M
I DO support Trump - cuz he stands for America.

I don't block either. Cuz I'm not interested in existing in an echo chamber.
Miram · 31-35, F
I don't block people over political differences. But I understand that in some instances it is reasonable response because some political views pose actual dangers to life. They do have ramifications in reality just like religious views. I do agree though that ending all discourse is counterproductive, I just don't think everyone should be making the discourse, others can talk about those points instead of them.
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
I block people because this is my space to write what I want and interact with who I want. That simple. I honestly don't care what people think about that.
Tbh it gets lame constantly seeing political posts. Hence why I tend to mute very political people. I only block the people who come on my posts talking about politics when the post isn’t even political.
akindheart · 61-69, F
i think your attitude is smart. i feel the same way. i try to treat everyone with respect but the minute i mention i am a trump supporter, i have lost them as friends and even family. diversity is what makes our country great.

Yep. 👍 It's the kind of things juveniles do.
I've never blocked anyone for some political choice, how immature.
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
I don’t block, though I’ve been blocked by folks on both sides.
I completely hate politics because I’m too dumb for it. I just know what love is, and I do that. I also work very hard not to judge anyone unless it’s something illegal or immoral, but I’m no doormat, and not obligated to explain any actions to anyone. I do lead with kindness but if you poke the bear, you get the teeth. Period. ✌️
Piper · 61-69, F
I can't say I've never been tempted to block some who defend and support Trump, but not ever just because they do. I've never done it, but when individuals get personally insulting just because I do not support and am critical of Trump...I figure I'd be justified in blocking them.
That last line was key! Lol...so true!
It's not only not good for society, but it's not good for yourself either. It's unhealthy.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
I take it a notch further. I don't block or mute anyone.

Ignore is so much easier. 🤷‍♂️
cycleman · 61-69, M
narrow minds, it's their way to go around the same things continuously.
BackyardShaman · 61-69, M
I could say this of any other GOP administration, but not this one.
