Can somebody be a dom and a sub at the same time?

Like dom with everyone in their life, but a sub with their partner? or vice versa. Does that ever happen?
I could never be Dom and Sub. I feel you have to put your heart and soul on the one you want. I am a total sub and could never change. I just try to find more ways to be a better sub. Any suggestion. The kinkier the better. Remember I'm a crossdressing sissy.

Sure, it's just a game
DrWatson · 70-79, M
I have a feeling that you are asking about something other than "switching". If I understand your question correctly, yes there are plenty of people whose bdsm role is not what you would expect from the way they carry themselves in the other areas of their lives. For example, many high-priced New York City professional dominas have high-powered, aggressive, power-wielding wall street executives as clients.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@DrWatson I'm not refering only about their job, like the way they are with their friends and in society as a whole. But have the kink of being completely different in bed.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@Dan193 I know. I just gave one example, but those wall street execs often have alpha-personalities with their friends. It's not just their jobs. Likewise, a shy quiet person might be dominant sexually.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@DrWatson I see.
PrivatePeeks · 26-30, F
It's called taking turns
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@PrivatePeeks you're joking
Fake1212445 · 31-35, M
Lol yea it's called being married, the bedroom is the only place where I'm in charge with my wife lol.
Ryanoliver2011 · 26-30, M
@Fake1212445 this guy 😂
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@Fake1212445 haha 👌
summersong · F
I think it often works out that way. Being sexually submissive does not mean being submissive all the time.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@summersong Apparently not.
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
Anything could happen with a species such complex as humans.
VioletRayne · 31-35, F
[c=#4C0073]yes, it’s called a switch[/c]
Viper · M
@VioletRayne Or a submissive that has a job in management and does their job properly and submissive at home.
HerKing · 61-69, M
Yes, it's being a switch. Or do you mean such as a boss of a firm being sub at home? Yes, it's very common.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@HerKing A switch? I didn't know they had a term for it.
HerKing · 61-69, M
@Dan193 Yes...In a D/s relationship you can be Dominant, submissive OR switch between them (sometimes with different partners, but not always). But I think you mean as others have said being a boss at work and sub at home? That is often because the power exchange is relaxing away from running a company/high stress job.
PoizonApple · 41-45, F
Viper · M
Yes of course.

They come in all types but some get tired of bossing people around all day at work and enjoy submitting once they get home. Others don't, there is anything and everything.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@Viper Like the kink of trying something radically different.
A lot of life is about finding the balance between dominant time and submissive time.

Most any conflict resolution scenario requires one side to dominate and the other to submit.
rfhh1959 · 61-69, M
Yes, it is almost a cliche' about very Alpha men in business/sport/politics being a sub in private. It is about giving the power up and over to someone else.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@rfhh1959 Did you ever experience that?
SW-User
Switch.

Yes.
SW-User
@Dan193 not personally. But I have read about it. There is a whole psychological study behind that. Lol
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@SW-User Ivd be interested in reading it too.
SW-User
@Dan193 I think if you Google this you might get some interesting texts.
Shade70 · 51-55, M
Absolutely. People often will adopt personas in private with their signif other that run counter to the role they inhabit in the eyes of the rest of the world.
MellyMel22 · F
[c=#BF0080]Maybe, but I’d think they weren’t naturally dominant. [/c]
MellyMel22 · F
@Dan193 [c=#BF0080]I’m not sure how to really explain it, but I’ll try in my opinion.. I think that it just comes natural to them, it’s not put out to seem that way- they don’t even realize they’re being that way most of the time. It’s their personality. Having a dominant personality doesn’t mean they’re overly aggressive or what most people assume. [/c]
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@MellyMel22 Right, but when you're dominant in every aspect of your life, I'd say that's natural. Unless it's a survival thing,
MellyMel22 · F
@Dan193 [c=#BF0080]Well I’m not sure they’re dominant in every aspect of their lives. I just think if they’re feeling more submissive at times that they aren’t naturally dominant. Again that’s just my opinion. [/c]
SW-User
This is more common than you would think.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@SW-User Yeah, I didn't know it.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
Not successfully
11knaves11 · 41-45, M
I think in that world it's called a “Switch". I met a female a few years back who enjoys that lifestyle and explained that's what she was
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@11knaves11 They're called a switch?
11knaves11 · 41-45, M
@Dan193 from what she explained that's how it's referred. “Im a Switch" as she said it.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@11knaves11 haha 👌
Sharky86 · 36-40, M
Yes, they're versatile people.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@Sharky86 Is there a term for that?
Sharky86 · 36-40, M
@Dan193 Yes but tbh I don't remember it, maybe it's switch or something.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@Sharky86 Yeah, many people said switch too.
Faust76 · 46-50, M
Only 32 replies, pfft.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@Faust76 And I didn't even reply to everyone.
SW-User
