We can never fully understand another. Maybe that's not what she meant or maybe she did and she is terribly insecure. When we are nice we guard our own soul.

You weren't being too nice. You were just being polite. For we know, she may have been having a rough day and just needed to feel good about herself. I don't why that had to come at the expense of your character but it's better to not even deal with the unnecessary drama it may have caused if you argued with her.
