Uggghhh why is writing so hard now?

I used to be able to write tons in middle school and make new ideas for stories. I remember writing a Whole book (was not a super long one it had like 8 chapters that consisted of 2-3 pages each) and now it's just so God damn hard...eventually as I got older it had become harder, I started getting tons of writers block and just not finishing what I started. I got to a point of bailing on all my work, And pretty much ending the works with an author's note saying that I would no longer be able to continue writing a work because of lots of writers block and the struggle to try to figure out what comes next. (My works had been on a sharing app/site, so people got to read it and stuff.) Writing for some reason now just strains me, i feel like the cogs and gears in my mind just are stuck. Sure they'll move a bit sometimes, but like then I'll get stuck and they just won't move at all.

Hmmm I have the same problem except it’s easier to explain...during high school I was able to write almost 100 poems and short stories in a few months and was writing 2 novels...the reason why I could write that much was cause me life was pretty much a living hell then and there was tons of pent up energy that had to be released somewhere...nowadays I struggle even writing one page in a week

@Insomniac100 I have a freaking story due for my writers workshop class and I only have tomorrow and Thursday in class to finish and its not working out so well. I need 3-5 pages and I barley have like a page or so...☹

Try something called “drunk writing” where you literally write whatever is on your mind...it could be “I Hate having writers block and I hate this paper I have to write and etc...” or something related to that. Eventually you should be able to get some sort of idea out of your subconscious @Cooper802Forever

lol same as a kid there was more imagination , idk about todays kids but us as kids there werent much to do online so we spent time doing other things and english class was just the easiest... i took literature a yr ago and swear that was like a math class😅

@Cooper802Forever You ever think about writing about these certain things, getting them out of your head? Maybe, writing about the fact you cant write. Get that gunk out of your skull.
