What are the ramifications of a genderless society?

sunrisehawk · 61-69, M
DNA and genetics are the core of natural law. A society that disregards, ignores, or pretends that anything is possible will lose. A man or woman can dress like the other gender, take hormones and have surgeries to look like the other gender, but at the end of the day, they still have the genetic structure of what they were born with.

Men and women are different. Science has shown the the brains operate differently (neither is superior to the other), physical strength, stamina, healing and more are different without even considering reproduction.

I have no problem with anyone living their life as they see fit, but if society takes the view that gender is fluid in direct conflict to all that science demonstrates in natural law, that society is going to have problems. If one can disregard biological facts at will, where will the line be drawn or can it be drawn at all?
SugarPlumxo · 31-35, F
@sunrisehawk What could be wrong with it if people are still functioning and children are still being born? Do you think the hormones will do long term damage?
sunrisehawk · 61-69, M
@SugarPlumxo I have no idea what the long-term hazards or damage to the individual might be from gender reassignment. However, I do question the viability of any society that ignores biological processes and facts and even encourages people to do so. There is a world of difference between allowing people to make the choice to try to live like the other gender and actually believing that they can become the other gender.
@sunrisehawk Unfortunately, human beings can't seem to acknowledge differences without wanting to assign value judgement to those differences. There appears to be an intrinsic need to label differences superior or inferior. Add to that an ever-present tendency to segregate and exclude, and it becomes obvious that rigid gender roles don't work for many members of society. If they did there would not have been the social upheaval from those who simply wanted more options.
I guess for me there wouldn't be much change. I'd still do the things I like to do, wear the clothes wear, hang out with those I like, sleep with those I'm into.

I really don't think much about "gender" until some prick makes a proclamation that women are too stupid to be a full stack developer or that queers should die or be denied various things. Or somebody is abused or attacked. Until them I'm pretty much a first name sort of guy.

@CopperCicada That's a good attitude because people are people.

Two genders : male and female. Opposites attract.

A society where everyone is androgynous and bisexual would be scary.
abe182 · 46-50, M
@SW-User amen
SugarPlumxo · 31-35, F
@SW-User I don't believe that would completely happen.
Im not sure, the world i live in still has two genders. i cant really speak for the rest of society. LOL
SW-User
@SheCallsMeCrushDaddy :) Right, but sigh more and more parts of society are trying to throw away gender roles and engage in a genderless society. I wonder if that's dangerous in any way.
Well, wherever that is...... hope it doesn't spread to here. LOL

I don't see a problem, people should just be who they want to be male or female
I think this would be great. We are people, humans. Humanity is thirsty to belong and be identified by a label they let society and the masses tell them who they are and what they like. Gender identification and sexual orientation are obsolete. If we were in ages past, hunting for food, we would be naked and sexually stimulated when touched, penetrated, and massaged in our privates, regardless if the person doing this was male or female. The only thing is that the consequence of these stimulating touches could potentially be an offspring. We like and are turned on when touched. All these labels and identifications have been fabricated by society for monetary reasons and functionality in an industrialized and "civilized" society which submit to certain norms because they have nothing better to do and out of fear.
SW-User
@Selfexpression It wouldn't. Gender roles are not the culprit. It's toxic masculinity that's the culprit.

there might be an eradication of stereotypes between genders where radical-like Feminist Organizations, which brings about Affirmative Action, would be extinct
MrsKatherineArch · 41-45, F
There would be no differences to celebrate
@abe182@Fernie We can never really understand another's experience. But I know how much women aren't equal by how sexism is a pain in my ass.

Example 1. My wife is an intelligent and articulate person. Service people don't take her seriously. I have to literally stand next to her and say the same things she would have said about the car or house.

Example 2. I have female friends who ask me to go to the doctor with them if it's something serious because the doctors don't take them seriously.

Example 3. My wife and female friends can't enjoy the outdoors by themselves. My wife can't walk in the woods without me. There are too many assaults and flashers and other shenanigans.

I have never once had a problem, even a thought, in these regards.
abe182 · 46-50, M
@CopperCicada I don't know what the solution is. All I can do is treat everyone equally and with respect. Perhaps a generation has to die off first idk.
@abe182 i hear ya. i don't have the answers either.
SW-User
It'll never happen, there's no sense in speculating. We'll get better at treating separate genders equally and stepping outside of traditional gender roles but society will never be genderless.
Wraithorn · 51-55, M
I should imagine that most things would change. We wouldn't even be Human anymore. We'd have to throw Freud, all religious texts and Darwin straight out the window and rethink everything.
Fernie · F
@Wraithorn perhaps we would be MORE human
metalicblack · 46-50, M
Gender or race is not the problem it is wealth. If everyone had to put equal work in for what they have. That is were true equality will begin.
popmol · 22-25, M
well our power to imagine will be cut in half, reproduction problems. destroying the entire part of the brain that is made to find a suitable partner
Ynotisay · M
It's biologically impossible, right?
Ynotisay · M
@SW-User OK but you're still discounting biology. We've evolved with specific traits intended to further the species. There are laws in many places that prohibit gender bias but we'll never be able to legislate biology.
SW-User
@Ynotisay Of course, but gender and sex are different.
Ynotisay · M
@SW-User Uh...what? Sex? I don't think you're following me.
I'm not sure of the point you're trying to make, (well, actually I am) but there will NEVER be a "gender neutral society" as long as there are different genders involved. You can argue that all day but you'll still be wrong.

AnukBinary · M
Do you mean getting rid of the labels or actual no gender?
SW-User
@AnukBinary Eh more like throwing away gender roles.
AnukBinary · M
@SW-User I don't know or have a solid opinion do to the fact I don't have enough information to go by.
Fernie · F
we will maybe finally have some equality...plus we will all be beige so no racism
An eventual extinction
Fernie · F
@Haniazed No loss there
@Fernie LOL!😂
Goralski · 51-55, M
Women are paying for their own dinner
IWasCallingYaLarry · 26-30, M
Well we would all be weird genderless aliens.
sogdianrock · 61-69, M
hi CopyX2Y

Best wishes
:)
abe182 · 46-50, M
I don't think I want that at all.
meJess · F
No more kids? :)
rottenrobi · 56-60, F
Less stereotyping, more actual equality. No sexual harassment, no "slut-shaming" by anyone. Imagine.
abe182 · 46-50, M
@bijouxbroussard I agree with you, but a homogenized society...? I'm not too sure about.
