Positive vibes sending to you stay strong
@missionfigdeluxe thank you ❤ it's someone very near and dear to my heart. I'm devastated.

@Gypsy11 how bad is it?
@samueltyler2 bad enough. Less than 45% survival rate. 2 major organs have tumors.

I’ve been through this I know how it feels @Gypsy11

@Gypsy11 I am happy to see if there is anything I can do to help. I was in academic medicine, my daughter is an oncologist at the US FDA. I hope you have good medical care providers, and good insurance!
@samueltyler2 thank you. It appears he's in good hands. Has insurance. Will be having a procedure in a few weeks to remove the tumors (via ablation) then scan in 3 months and hope they get it all.

@Gypsy11 I will likely still be here, so feel free to reach out. If it is a cancer, be sure the genetically type the tumor. If the prognosis you were told is.that bad, the newer meds may end up indicated and they will need to know the genetic typing of the tumor.
@samueltyler2 it's been biopsied. Its definitely cancer. Hepatocellular carcinoma.

@Gypsy11 was he exposed to plastic manufacturing, or lived in Subsaharan Africa? There are dietary and occupational risk factors for that particular tumor. Again, there are newer medications called tissue agnostic agents. You might want to drop that term on his oncologist.
@samueltyler2 no, neither. He lives and works in America. He fits no profile for this type of cancer. They say it's common, but he's never been a drinker or big red meat eater.

@Gypsy11 and they think it is a primary A liver cancer.
@samueltyler2 I beleive so
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Gypsy11 a primary liver cancer meanS they are convinced it started in the liver and is definitely a hepatocellular carcinoma. There are tumors in other organs that metastasize to the liver.

@Gypsy11 ask about genotype and phenotype. Those may determine further care.
