I Am Exhausted

My dad is very nice and we get along OK, but spending time with him is exhausting, especially one on one.

He keeps asking for attention or help with small things every few minutes. If we can just continue to talk or do things together, I don't mind. But it's often for half a minute to two minutes before letting me go back to my own thing, only to ask the next favor or question within 5 minutes.

Today he kept repeating "after this we've done enough for the day and we'll just relax" and 6 hours later I still hadn't had 15 consecutive minutes to myself.

I can't really complain because I did have plenty of time for myself, but that only being in short bursts of a few minutes makes it highly annoying and very exhausting...

I love my dad and I'm happy to support him throughout this difficult time for the entire family, but I also can't wait to go home and draw my own plans again.

My dad has quirks too, he's pushing 77 but takes every opportunity to 'chat up' young women! They clearly have no interest in this beyond what their job is and it's hugely embarrassing. I only discovered this when he was giving an order to a bar maid but did it so quietly she had to ask him to repeat what he said, normally this is his 'in' to start a conversation (but 1- they have no interest and 2-they are too busy). I only realised this after he did it and I repeated the order for the bar maid (my mother would usually do this but wasn't there), and he said 'shut up' angrily under his breath! For Christ's sake stick to looking you horny old bastard!
