Christians often glibly describe an "atheist position" as believing nothing happened to nothing for a long time until it became something. [Spirituality & Religion]

My question to you is why do you assume that an atheist should think that in the beginning there was nothing?
Why should we assume there was nothing? That nothing is the default position which something must replace?

That's the Christian position you've described. Atheists don't believe there was nothing and then suddenly something.
