Christians often glibly describe an "atheist position" as believing nothing happened to nothing for a long time until it became something. [Spirituality & Religion]

My question to you is why do you assume that an atheist should think that in the beginning there was nothing?
Why should we assume there was nothing? That nothing is the default position which something must replace?

That's the Christian position you've described. Atheists don't believe there was nothing and then suddenly something.

It certainly is. But it's also the position christians often ascribe to atheists. And i wonder what the logical foundation is for that

@MetalGreymon: One cannot be a Christian without shutting down the logical side of the brain.

I wouldn't say that. Although it's often a selective application of logic

@MetalGreymon: No, it's an abuse of the reasoning processes. People of faith access the creative side which permits free flight fantasizing.
