Did Science Bury God? [Spirituality & Religion]

ladycae · 100+, F Best Comment
you can't bury God. you'd have to prove he doesn't exist which is impossible. the two actually prove one another quite often.
@GodSpeed63 It is real that you won’t give a direct response. We’ve passed the 200 mark of you avoiding my question.
Only you know why.
Do you read and follow every word of the Bible?
Sharon · F
@GodSpeed63
she's making fool of herself.
Dream on. The fool here is you. You can't even give a straight answer to a simple question.
@GodSpeed63

Straight answer time.
The only special pleading I see
Can you share for the class what the logical fallacy "special pleading" means and how sharon and emosaur were committing it?

ArishMell · 70-79, M
No.

Science and religion do different things and ask different questions.

There is no logical reason you cannot be both a scientist and religious.
Sharon · F
@GodSpeed63
Your posts say otherwise.
You're the only one who (mis)interprets them like that. You need to work on your severely limited reading and comprehension skills.
Sharon · F
@GodSpeed63
Can you prove I'm living a fantasy?
Yes, easily to the same standard that you prove your claims. Here goes - You're living in a fantasy. QED
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Sharon You mean a proof @ arrogance
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
Science isn’t concerned with imaginary concepts
@JoeyFoxx

Is that what i was doing?
Gosh alright.
You claim you like arguing,
Actually you'll note, upon careful inspection, that i enjoy debating.
I guess i just haven't mastered turning the other cheek the way you have.
Good to have room to grow though, is it not?😉
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
@Pikachu the day I stop learning is the day I die
@JoeyFoxx
Ah good.
Feel free to enter one of my threads sometime and we can show these people how to debate properly.
I think you have what it takes to disagree without getting personally insulting.👍
purplepen · 51-55, F
It wouldn't do any good burying God. He rose from the grave.
Carazaa · F
@purplepen Jesus sure did rise from the grave!
It goes....
God creates dinosaur 🦖
God destroys dinosaur 🦕
God creates Man 🙋‍♂️
Man destroys God ✝️
Man creates dinosaur 🦕
Dinosaur eats man 🦖
Woman inherits the earth 🌍️
@Kwek00 well then we're either still trying to create dinosaurs or they've not quite eaten all the men yet
Speedyman · 70-79, M
And it goes.....Tired old arguments. @TopCat
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
The more advanced science becomes the more it seems to indicate the existence of God. Much like archaeology proves the places in the Bible. Funnily enough both the denial of the Bible and the existence of God both came from the humanist rationalism of the 19th century. However as time moves on the humanist rationalism does not stand up to rigorous scrutiny and analysis.

Depends what you mean.
Has science disproved the existence of gods? No. It could never.
Has science disproved various biblical claims? Yes.
Fat boy gonna get a slap in the chops 😭👈️@Pikachu
@Wearelivinginamadworld

Hey dude, you keep your sexual kinks to yourself😉👍
LOL that's funny dude. bless ya fam@Pikachu
JBird · F
How can science bury something that can't be proved to exist?
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@canusernamebemyusername I just hope that he's a troll.
@Kwek00 If that is true that is some real commitment.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@JBird
I wasn't one who is trying to shove my beliefs on people.
Seems like you are and you throw tantrums if someone doesn't swallow your beliefs hook line and sinker. All I'm doing is getting at the truth of the matter.

Eventually,yes but that’s a long time away. Religion will fade away within a few centuries though
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Bagalamaga I'm not sure it will; but unlike Speedy I will try to give you a serious reason I think that.

Individual faiths come and go over historical time, and Christianity, Islam, Judaism etc. are only the "latest" among many.

Yet humanity in general seems always to have needed some sort of "spiritual" or mystical support no matter what faiths are invented to describe it, no matter what cultures come and go.

It's very true that very many people nowadays do not have that need, or at least do not need formal religions. Also there is no "one true religion" as the more fervent in any religion sometimes claim for their own - otherwise there would not be so many deeply-rival faiths and sects.

So I don't see the basic mystic need disappearing completely, though it may reduce a lot more. Specific religions and sects may fade, but not that inherent human desire.
Bagalamaga · 56-60, M
@ArishMell the human desire is only there out of fear and uncertainty. The need to feel that it doesn’t end when we die. Science will find the answers eventually whatever the truth may be,then people can base their fate on facts. If we would burn all the books today and forget about them for a few hundred years,only science would emerge again the same way because it’s based on facts. All the other books and teachings would perish.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Bagalamaga Yes, you could have a point there, though fear and uncertainty, and fear of uncertainty, are not the only motives.
No, it was Boredom who did it.
Carazaa · F
@EarthlingWise I am never bored s in my life, because there’s so much to do so I’m totally lost what you are talking about? What is more exciting than study Gods word! Not anything!
Carazaa · F
@EarthlingWise Colossians 3 “Put you eyes on things above not on things on earth!”
@Carazaa Same here, I've never been bored in my life, that's because I've always been true to myself, and always try to find truth and knowledge everywhere, which means anything fallacious will be given short shrift.

This is a very good video and debate between an atheist and a scientist! Science will always prove the Bible correct!
This one is a great scientist at the best university Oxford and he knows that Jesus rose from the grave and is Lord of Lords!
Happy Good Friday 🌾
”Hosanna, Hosanna, Hosanna, Glory to God in the highest! Peace on earth and Good will towards men!

@Carazaa
This is a very good video and debate between an atheist and a scientist!
Amen, Carazaa, amen. Science will always point to God being that He's its Author.
Carazaa · F
@GodSpeed63 yes that’s right God invented science ha ha 🙂
Cremation is probably the correct answer cause ‘god/yahweh’ is smoke and mirrors.
Nika2002 · 22-25, F
Science isn't interested in God. It only explains physical things.
badminton · 61-69, MVIP
I'm not religious, but if I had to pick a religion I'd choose a polytheistic nature-spirit religion, like that of the ancient Celts or the North American Indian tribes.
badminton · 61-69, MVIP
@hippyjoe1955 @hippyjoe1955 I also read the Bible. I find much that is interesting and inspirational, without believing in the supernatural aspects. I'm also reading Buddhist scriptures.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@badminton Wow I am so impressed I just yawned. Next time I will be like you and think about doing something. Not actually do it but think about it.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@badminton
I'm not religious
I'm glad you're not. I'm not religious either. Yahweh is not looking for religion in man.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
We have no need for a god or gods.
SW-User
They try to but it will NEVER happen! 😍
SW-User
@newjaninev2 Our God is a supernatural God!!! Oh yeah!!
Speedyman · 70-79, M
Miracles supersede the natural laws of the universe not violate them. The problem with people like you is you believe that the natural laws are all there is but there are things which you have never even dreamed about in your philosophy Horatio@newjaninev2
ladycae · 100+, F
@newjaninev2 science it's self violates the natural laws of the universe each time a new discovery is made when I was in hs science a molecule was made up of electrons and neutrons. nothing else. the universe was made up of only molecules. but that physical law of the universe was broken and we have ions, quarks, quantum physics. man makes up laws of the universe based on what they know at the time. but those laws change as laws are broken all the time and new ones are created. a true scientist limits nothing. because there are no limits. there are always things science can not explain. it is the height of hubris to definitively say there no possibility of a supreme being and intelligent design. there is even something called the god particle which may explain particle physics' Higgs bosom and the eternal question of mass. i have only a rudimentary knowledge of this stuff. my dad was a famous scientist. he did not believe in a personal god but he told me the more science learns the more science realizes how much is not known.he said he couldn't rule God out because science shows most all things are possible and who knows what the future will teach us.
Elessar · 26-30, M
If you get sick, don't go to a doctor, leave the hospital bed free for others, and go to your nearest church/mosque/whatever. Be coherent until the end, please.
ladycae · 100+, F
thanks for best answer
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@ladycae
thanks for best answer
You;re most welcome.
Speedyman · 70-79, M
No. The great scientists like Newton and Kepler believed in a rational universe with a rational creator. Scientists are just thinking God's thoughts after him whether they realise it or not

@LadyGrace
I'm certain God doesn't want us calling anyone these names, and that goes for the terms "stupid" and "ignorant". I think it's shameful, as we represent Christ, but I keep seeing this over and over.
I'm sure you're right. I don't call people stupid but I can point out that they act stupid, not to insult them, but to let them they are insulting themselves.
People tend to use the word 'ignorant' very loosely. It means that they are without knowledge on a certain subject, that's all it means. It doesn't mean one is stupid or dumb like some people think. Okay?
