Why do so many religions not eat pork? [Spirituality & Religion]

Why that specific animal?
Quizzical · 46-50, M
In reality because of science.

Porks spoils very quickly in warm climates and can cause food poisoning.

Ergo people thought it was 'unclean'.

@Quizzical so does that mean that most non-ergo people eat pork? 😂
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@reflectingmonkey lmao 😄

Alls I can say is that would be a shitty food to abstain from. Pork is is delicious

A rabbi once explained that the Jewish Kosher food laws had to do with 'normal' Since most cloven hoofed animals chew their cud. However pigs have cloven hooves but they don't chew their cuds so the are 'unclean' A fish has fins and swim. Shell fish do not so they are unclean.
I don't eat pig meat but that's because it looks like human flesh to me and I can't stand the smell

Something to do with pigs being unclean.

I only know about one religion not doing that and that's muslims. Tell me one more...?
MartinTheFirst · 22-25, M
@Notmesam never heard about seventh day adventists lol
@MartinTheFirst look them up
@MartinTheFirst I just learned about that one last year, a coworker of mine follows that religion and she doesn't eat pork..

Well in the past pigs were disease ridden. That's why nowadays we treat pigs with antibiotics and this is why, sir, youre able to eat pigs.
