Hello, my creationist friends. Have any of y'all considered how much easier it would be to defend creationism if you espoused a fallible god? [Spirituality & Religion]

God being a dickface does make things a bit more consistent.
@QuixoticSoul

Honestly, when i read the bible i don't understand how anyone could look a that and determine that the god of the bible is an infallible perfect being
TheWildEcho · 56-60, M
@Pikachu you need God's holy spirit in you to interpret the bible
@TheWildEcho

Well don't tell me, tell him lol
TheWildEcho · 56-60, M
@Pikachu He knows🤠
@TheWildEcho

Well then the ball is in his court, yeah?
What you're suggesting here is circular reasoning: I need god's spirit to interpret the bible but i need to read and believe god's word before i can get the holy spirit.
TheWildEcho · 56-60, M
@Pikachu the Holy Spirit is a gift He gives when we receive Jesus as saviour. The ball is in our court, we can receive Him or reject Him
@TheWildEcho

Can you tell me how i receive him as my savior when i don't think he was?
By what road do i reach salvation if i am unmoved by the stories?
TheWildEcho · 56-60, M
@Pikachu you'll need faith to believe He exists and loves you
@TheWildEcho

And can you tell me how one decides to have faith?
Explain to me how i choose to believe that which i do not believe.
TheWildEcho · 56-60, M
@Pikachu ask God to speak to you and show you. If you are genuine He will
@TheWildEcho

That's the stock response i was expecting.
It's also not helpful.
I have at various times in my life genuinely asked for help, for guidance, for any sign at all that god is there.

So far nothing.

Do you have a plan b?
TheWildEcho · 56-60, M
@Pikachu keep asking, He certainly helped me.He knows your heart,
@TheWildEcho

What a convenient, profoundly unhelpful answer.

Guess we'll just hope he sees fit to reveal his grace to me before i die and become damned for all eternity🙄
TheWildEcho · 56-60, M
@Pikachu perhaps you need to repent of your unbelief
@TheWildEcho

How do i repent my unbelief if i do not believe it to be in error?
Are you still not seeing the circular reasoning you are offering me?

I am unconvinced that god exists. I've never seen any reason to believe that he does. I've never received any answer to my prayers or requests to be filled with his spirit.
So how and why would i repent of my unbelief.
TheWildEcho · 56-60, M
@Pikachuthere's no circular reasoning, if you want God's blessing,forgiveness and peace in your life you'll have to believe He exists. If you've already decided He doesn't then He can't bless you
@TheWildEcho

lol that is a perfect example of circular reasoning.

I have to believe in god to get his blessing but i can't believe in god without his blessing.

But let's forget that. I asked you a specific question and i'd appreciate it if you showed me the respect of answering it specifically:
How do i repent my unbelief if i do not believe it to be in error?
Note: "I don't know" is an acceptable answer.

@Pikachu I will answer your question.....the scriptures say to seek Him in diligence with a seeking heart and you will find Him. This heart that a person is to seek Him with is of being contrite and humble. Jesus will not turn any away from Him who come to Him this way....What is happening with you my friend is this very thing Jesus was confronted with when He was here-

"23 Now when He was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name when they saw the signs which He did. 24 But Jesus did not commit Himself to them, because He knew all men, 25 and had no need that anyone should testify of man, for He knew what was in man." (John 2:23-25)

This was a recurring theme in His 3 years of ministry. People wanted sign after sign after sign, yet had no desire to count the cost and follow Him. Many died in their sins because they would not HEAR Him.

It isn't that the atheist, as you mentioned in another post, is afraid to believe in God. It's what Jesus said here-

"19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed." (John 3:19-20)

It's why a person would rather have a fallable God so that he wouldn't be accountable to Him. But in closing, here is what the scriptures say to those who "reason Him away"-

"18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. " (Romans 1:18-22)

"By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible." (Hebrews 11:3)
