If you can't judge god by human morality, how can you tell god is moral? [Spirituality & Religion]

I mean, he tells you that he's moral. But how can you tell?
Surely you just have to have faith, right?

The lengths Christians and Muslims go to when they excuse their god's behavior are amazing and troubling. In the supposed global flood, of which there is no geologic evidence the entire planet was underwater up to mountaintops, is one example. Apparently bible god is an animal killer in incredible numbers. The bible explains he was displeased with evil in the world so he also regretted making animals. The solution was to flood the planet killing everything but some animals and Noah and others. Mass killing of animals by drowning in this manner is inhumane to most people and if this god was upset with human behavior, then spare the animals. Penguins must be real evil as we all know. Those kangaroos also are very evil. This god was so stupid that he /she /it knew mankind would start sinning again after re-population of humans and the animals would go back to doing what they do which is to eat other species or plants. The whole Noah story is stupidity at it's finest. Almost as stupid as bible god asking people to mark their houses with blood so that he would know who not to kill during the passover story. Guess omniscience couldn't do the job.

Celine you will never understand the true answers to all the crazy Christian baiting questions you ask because you deny the existence of God. i believe that God is moral. and he tells us so in his word and in our everyday communion with him. he also tells us man is immoral and looking at the world one can plainly see the truth in that. but you can also see the truth of God's morality if you are willing to look. even an atheist can see that. if they are willing to look. so no it's not all faith.

in my experience attitude is everything. if you come to any situation determined to see the worst you will, but if you come with an open mind you will see so much more.

that is why i asked if you had read the whole bible [c=#BF0000]RATHER then assumed [/c]anything.

@ladycae I meant you shouldn't assume the bibles are fact. They're not the written word of god, scholars around the world will tell you this - they are parables and stories passed down, many from days well before Abraham ever came onto the historical scene. They were used to help create a society that all humanity could live under - a code of acceptable behavior so to speak. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

actually, even given your interpretation t all still explains it's self. not to mention you say it is an acceptable code of behavior which contradicts your original statement.

and i still say regardless of whether or not you believe it is the word of god you can't pick and choose parts to prove your point. you can't do that with any written word. you can certainly try but any true scholar knows that things have contextual meaning and must be looked at in that vein. i could no doubt disprove evolution simply picking and choosing parts of Darwin's evolution of the species.

In my opinion, you can judge by human morality from a systematic level. I tend to think of things in an allegorical way. The way we write and view God reflect a lot about us as an individual. The bible is NO different from that idea. Yeah there's the "10 commandments" but aside from those, the bible has a lot of contradictory (as well as inflammatory) stuff in it.

It's so contradictory because God is a reflection of mankind. Meaning that God changed according to whoever wrote it at the time. This at least in my opinion is the main reason why you can precisely judge by human morality.

He's written His morality in the Bible. Everything He considers moral, true, and right, He's had written in His book so we know what He wants from us.

God is a personal God and communicates on a personal level. Just pay attention to His signs and you will know
