I Support Vaccination

Every year I get a phone call from the seniors' center asking if I want my mother to be vaccinated against the flu. Of course I say yes and within a few weeks (today in fact) I get another phone call saying the seniors' center is in isolation since there is a major flu outbreak amongst the seniors. Makes me wonder just how effective the vaccine really is

but did your Mum catch the flu?

@hippyjoe1955 sorry I don't know any "sue's" lol

@LynnUK My late aunt was Suzie but that is as close to any sue I know too. It is grimly humorous though.

the vaccine works. even if you do get the flu its not as bad as it would have been if you did not have the vaccine.

@hippyjoe1955 if it matches you will get much milder case of the flu. and if it is not a match there are similarities so you get some cross resistance.
@hippyjoe1955 Your body gets training from the weaker form of the flu although you get symptoms. If you did not get the training, you could end up way worse.

@fdbgljkfsdbgkljfsdbgkljS Or you could just get the flu like everyone else. Sorry but the product does not perform as advertised. Not an anti vaxer by any stretch but please don't pee on my shoes and tell me its raining.
That is an interesting question and one would think a very answerable question through research. I imagine we should be able to know how effective a vaccine is, on average, for protection against the flu.
I was unaware that I was vaccinated for smallpox.
