Sleepwalk by Santo and Johnny

I grew up listening to my dad’s oldies a lot. From the car shows he’d take me to...to the spontaneous road trips we’d take, oldies were always in the background. One day we watched the movie La Bamba and I recognized the song when I heard it, but it hit me incredibly hard during that movie. I think it’s because I was not only greatly affected by that ending, but my dad was too and ever since then I’ve seen this song as a form of immeasurable beauty...simply because it touched my dad on that level. No other song I’ve heard since has even come close to touching its rank and I honestly don’t think one ever will.

@PerfectionOfTheHeart I’ve loved this song since I was a child, but there was always something so melancholy about it to me even then. I saw La Bamba as an adult, when this played in the closing scenes people were crying in the theater.

@bijouxbroussard It was such a powerful scene. I mean, we all knew what was coming, but man, the feels in that moment were so intense and having this song playing in the background...it was just so perfectly chosen.

I’m an instrumental fan but I do appreciate great vocals and song structure. Tim Buckley had a short life and is not well known by the current generation.

Astradyne because in 1980 it seemed very prescient.
