Landlords are people, too!

Landlords need to eat. They need to pay for their own housing. And they need to pay property tax, utilities, and probably at least one mortgage on that roof over your head. You think we LIKE coming around every month to people who can't or won't pay rent, asking for money? We have enough problems with repair work, bank payments, and city employees yelling at us to cut the grass, trim the hedges, etc. (Things the tenant could be doing, by the way...)

So yeah. Keep complaining about how fascist it is that you're expected to make a monthly payment for a four-bedroom house with a full kitchen in a nice neighborhood near a good school. Because I'm the dirtbag for offering that service for a monthly fee, when you're entitled to it and I owe you.

Many wont ever understand.
They think they are entitled to everything and its owed to them.

Because demand for housing is somewhat inelastic, at one segment it’s always going to invite c*nty behavior from providers - a bit like healthcare. The solution is the same, really - competition via public option and/or subsidies for the poor.

I fucking hated landlords so much for stealing my security deposits I finally bought a condo.

[@903658,BelovedTed] I'm saving for an RV, screw all the apartments and stuff, those are traps.

[@394395,CULTure] Good for you!
[@903658,BelovedTed] Landlords like that deserve the old "fish in the heater vent" trick.

I don't know, I live in an area where the rent is 1,000 monthly for a one room apartment and note that's not one bedroom, it's one room. And these apartments are not even in good shape.

While I don't think landlords are to blame and it's more the economy, I could see some the frustration. I think we got a lot of homeless because rent is outrageous and more people can't afford it despite working a lot
[@394395,CULTure] For $2,000 a month, you could rent one of our houses in Milwaukie, Oregon.

[@1201381,ShadowfireTheSarcastic] Glad they got the money, most people don't or they're getting free money from the government. Sorry you're dealing with those types of people.
[@394395,CULTure] Thanks. It's not like we don't make allowances. All of our places are approved by HomeForward (section 8).
