At what point will we admit that the US military is a criminal organization that earned our mistrust

No matter what, they want more war in Afghanistan-. No matter what, NATO is on the prowl.. no matter what, they're going to prepare for even more massive war- Doesn't that spoil the credibility of the military for good?

[@10531,eli1601] yes, always lots of loud laughter from the gangs... Lots of disdain for ideas... So what?

The US military is a tool of what Eisenhower called the "military-industrial complex." It exists to make some rich people richer. We haven't been the good guys in a war since 1945.
MotherHubbard56-60, F
[@45528,hunkalove] people say they're aware-. Why can't we change it?
Heartlander70-79, M
[@45528,hunkalove] :) I believe the military-industrial complex got replaced by the social media - politician complex and the renewable energy - politician complex years ago.

Your ascertains are misguided at best. Go back to your cupboard. Your dog is asking for a bone.

Without the US military, Hitler would have conquered all of Europe and killed many more millions of people.
You may probably understand that I feel a certain gratitude. 馃尫

[@6602,helenS] the US took over where Hitler left off, but communists defeated Nazi Germany

Rather like burning a car that a murderous maniac drives into a crowd. It's not the machine, it's the nut behind the wheel.

'The military' is an organization comprised of soldiers who are sworn to obey orders. Those orders come from the top. Those at the top are directed - or at least permitted - by the government we elect.

We are the nut behind the wheel.

Sorry but where do you get off disparaging the honour and the valour of our Service Members, many of whom sacrificed their lives to give you the right to spew your crap. I don't know many Soldiers who want "More war". By all means blame the Government that give orders to the "Military" or the Top Brass of the Military but don't taint us all with your mistrust, we certainly didn't earn it... 馃槨

Strict conservative republicans need to look at issues with wide eyes, not closed minds. Didn't soldiers die to maintain our constitutional right to free speech? So where do you get off criticizing the free speech of others? [@605026,spjennifer] [@605026,spjennifer]
spjennifer56-60, T
[@1125727,FlowersNButterflies] Yes, many of us did indeed die to maintain our Constitutional right to free speech but "free speech" doesn't always mean any speech. I didn't say she couldn't criticize the Military just that she should direct her ire to the people who deserve it, not the soldiers who die defending her rights...

I am definitely not Republican and do have a very open mind but also served for 35+ years and don't like to see our brave Men and Women disparaged for the decisions of their Commanders and Governments. Rank and File Soldiers don't make the decisions to go to war, Governments do and Soldiers obey their orders.

The fact that when I worked for them, they treated me like crap and now it is exposed they have been a racist and sexist organization for decades without repair... well it is about time.
Heartlander70-79, M

That's not quite how I remember it.

{@motherhubbard] i think the american militiary is governed by the commandeering chief and by foreign policy they dance to there tune . nato has helped to keep peace in europe for seventy five years now . any move towards starting a conflict small as it is could lead to bigger things and worse consequence . i do agree that i think that the united states has perhaps de to no fault of there own expect to be the world military policeman
