Good week.

[quote]President Donald Trump repeatedly threatened to release ISIS fighters in Europe as a form of punishment for countries like Germany and France;

said he’s strongly considering trying to change the Constitution by executive order (it doesn’t work that way);

indicated he hasn’t ruled out trying to illegally serve more than two terms; rewrote history during comments about Russia’s expulsion from the G8 that framed the situation in the most pro-Kremlin manner possible;

and, despite five draft deferments, joked about giving himself the Medal of Honor.

Then he called himself a "chosen one" and compared himself to the King of Israel.

That was just the week up until Wednesday.

You cannot tell me this is what winning looks like.
I think (OP) that the people who voted for the lesser of the two evils are seeing what they got wasn't what they were hoping for, a business leader who would solve economic problems, and what they got from the very beginning is division, chaos, and an insatiable ego - "King Kong". In the movie KK tumbles from the top of the Empire State Building. (irony ?) In his real estate business he brokered a deal to sell The Empire State Bldg. to foreign investors and got caught at that, opening a fraudulent University to scam people out of money didn't help his image, I didn't get a parade, the 4th of July was a political Rally paid for with tax money (I got my Parade?) the polls don't exist, they are fake news, mine show I'm winning. Now skip ahead to Greenland. He was warned by his economic advisers about a recession and he contradicted their advice. I'm not concerned about a recession, it's the Fed. Reserves fault, the economy is tremendous, a tremendous tax cut, consumers are rich rolling in money, tariffs aren't paid by customers, Christmas is coming, I'm thinking about a payroll tax cut, the tax cut is off the table. And now he's going to the G7.
(?) clear the sidewalks at the base of the Empire State Building ?

What if Donald, Boris Johnson, Putin, and Bolsonaro all went on a cruise together....and the ship sank?

A girl can dream.
TheOrionbeltseeker · 36-40, M
@SmartKat I am for their rescue
@SmartKat If there were any women and children on that cruise they wouldn't be allowed on the life boats.

@SW-User That's about the best summation I've read.

Yes... that's how winning looks like.
And he's right... I'm sick of winning already! 🤮

I think we've seen a change in the Office of President since the end of the Cold War.

Without being able to make Communists an enemy the whole country can communally fear and so get behind whoever is elected President.
It seems Presidents from George Bush on have struggled to redefine what it is they're supposed to be doing these days.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Picklebobble2 I'm not sure which Bush you are talking about P-Bobble, but didn't Bush Jr. redefined (specially foreign) american politics since the 90s?

And didn't Obama change (specially foreign) american politics again?

... I think they know what their national goals are tough. I don't think it changed that much. The recipes are just diffrent and well, the "sane" factor seems to change over time too.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Kwek00 I was referring to Bush Snr.
For some obscure reason some like to point at Reagan as being 'the last great President'. Even though.... And Bush was just running on his coattails.

Obama had no choice in his policymaking since Bush Jnr had plunged the economy into a generations worth of debt !

I'm not going to comment, just shake my head 😔

Just another week in TrumpLandia.

The G7 should be fun.

@windinhishair @softspokenman @MistyCee

I happen to live near to Biarritz , and I can tell you most French people view Trump with a mixture of amusement , ridicule and horror. It is simply beyond them how such a man came to be POTUS.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@RodionRomanovitch It is beyond the comprehension of an increasing majority of Americans, too.
And he might just be the biggest thing for the DNC since the Great Depression.

@MistyCee I hope you’re right.
firefall · 61-69, M
well, it is, for Trump. Everyone else loses, so I must be winning.

This isn't going to end well.

He is an angel to the people of USA

@TheOrionbeltseeker Funny, I think he's an abomination to the human species.

@TheOrionbeltseeker Satan started out as an angel.

He might be the "best" president yet... in the sense that he is excellent at making himself a focus, a target and a distraction. I'd wager the average person is informationally overloaded with his antics and the focus is always pulled towards what he said or did this time. I'm sure a lot of stuff has happened behind the scenes and gone unnoticed by most people simply because he provided a great distraction at the right time.
