James Comey was just referred to the Attorney General for prosecution and the AG has declined to prosecute. Your thoughts?

He was referred for prosecution because he took classified material from the FBI to his own home and stored it for at least a month in his home, an unsecured private location. That is a violation of US Code 1082.

John Durham, a US Attorney who is investigating many things from the 2016 election for prosecution continues his investigation of Comey.

I have heard that the AG will not prosecute this because he is waiting to prosecute Comey for much larger issues, which will come to light fairly soon.
Who else do we know that kept classified info in an insecure place... 🤔

@SooperSarah 😂 And it was Comey who illegally assumed the role of NOT referring her for prosecution!
Platoscave · F
@SooperSarah were you here for the Nixon show?

Like the way life imitates art,

these characters all copy from one another,

And build on the ones who did it before them.

The Inspector General (IG) referred Comey for prosecution to the AG . Barr (the AG) has something bigger cooking for him ...

@PainfulTruth I tend to agree, and apparently so does the AG. I listened to an analysis by two former prosecutors last night, and they feel that small things must be allowed to pass by, so that the larger issue will be fully prosecuted.

I hope Comey saved all the proceeds from his book and all his CNN interviews to pay for his legal fees.

He is part of the reason Hillary is scott free. My guess is things are going to blow wide open.
I think the whole mess will never be untangled and amnesty should be declared for every-damn-body .

Instead of enriching lawyers and media personnel and distracting from the technical purpose of those folks in Washington - running the country.

Spend the time and money developing better controls and oversight so it can’t happen again.

There’s nobody in politics for more than 15 minutes who hasn’t broken the law. This is all the ultimate hypocrisy.

They’re never really going to pay for any of it.
4meAndyou · F
@Mamapolo2016 Let's hope it is not.
What happened to Nixon? Resignation
Watergate investigation in dollars of that time - $26 million.

What happened to Clinton? Nothing. - “multi-million investigation.”

I know those figures are trifling government-wise, but they were wasted.

“Investigations” are what they do to keep us from noticing important things.@4meAndyou

@Mamapolo2016 Yes, a case could be made that Comey engineered the entire Mueller investigation, which cost the taxpayers at least $25 million, (at last count), and possibly more, based on a false document or hoax.

That's common. And as long as this actually happens I'm OK with it
4meAndyou · F
@abe182 It appears that John Durham is actually doing the job we all hoped he would do.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
They may have bigger things to go after him on.
4meAndyou · F
@cherokeepatti So they say.
Ramon67 · 61-69, M
If they can charge for a bigger crime I say wait
Bigger fish to fry?
The thing is that politics are so incestuous - sooner or later the investigation goes too deep - and they find a way out of it.

If Comey goes to jail for more than a year (with professional work release, of course), I’ll eat my sun hat.
Callmedaddy · 41-45, F
James Comey will not go to jail anymore than Hillary or Trump will.
4meAndyou · F
@Callmedaddy I thought this post was about the prosecution of Comey? Yet you've stated that partisan politics divides us, and you go on to insult the president.
I suppose you believe that is not divisive?

Please don't mention partisan politics if you only wish to perpetuate your sound bytes.
Callmedaddy · 41-45, F
Cause and effect.

Trump asked Comey to scuttle an investigation into Flynn. Comey writes a memo detailing situation. Comey doesnt comply with the president's demand and is ultimately fired. Week after he is fired delivers memo to a friend who then leaks to the press which causes the special counsel to be formed. Special council report doesn't exonerate the president of criminal wrong doing for a reason. It allows for potential prosecution after he's left office.

If President Trump wasn't being shady, then Comey wouldn't have had to leak the contents of the memo.

Realize you want this thread to be only about the fact that DOJ will not prosecute Comey but Trump's stubby little fingers are all over this topic as he created the situation with partisan politics and we continue that fight amongst ourselves. Meanwhile the elite continue to maintain power while we debate among one another.

@Callmedaddy President Trump is a hero. Comey the con man is a traitor that deserves the electric chair. Trump 20/20
katielass · F
He's not off the hook.
xixgun · M
He should be shot for treason.
4meAndyou · F
@xixgun Even just making a horrific stink in the courts to point out the illegal things he did will benefit the nation in the long run. Right now almost 50% of the populace have been made to believe that Comey is a noble hero.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@xixgun He could be if they find enough for him to go to a tribunal.
xixgun · M
@4meAndyou Those that feel he is a hero still won't believe it. Even if they heard Comey admit it.
He should be drowned like a sack of rats.
Platoscave · F
agonizingly long procedure though...

@pismo They sent what is called a SNOOP team to recover the documents, which is only done when classified documents have been illegally removed from their protected storage at the FBI. The documents were all labelled as classified, not to be seen by foreign governments.

Comey himself changed their classification!!! He unclassified the documents, and then leaked them.
