The West is responsible for a lot of the worlds ills?

redredred · M
Yeah, like antibiotics, the green revolution, air travel, cars, democracy, the end of slavery, universal suffrage, pasteuization, the industrial revolution, The Enlightenment and lots more.

And dont forget Guinness.
@redredred No point since you completely ignore the ones I pointed out.

And according to basically the entire western world no Russian has been considered a westerner since the October Revolution.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow You mean Anna Kournikova and Maria Sharapova are Easterners?
@sunsporter1649 According to a century of Western propaganda, yes.

People always take this stuff personally and ignore the systemic critique. I'm talking about the replies here.

If Africa had been the first continent to industrialise, it would have produced imperial powers.

Europe did and it was the dominant continent and shaped the world in its own interests. This included even creating modern counties due to Anglo French compromises.

Its an interesting counter factual to think about how the third world would have developed without colonialism.
@Burnley123 It is, but it’s not something we can ever know. Even in many areas with intertribal wars, there was European interference at some point.

“Everything might be different in the future, if only one thing had been different in the past.”
The West has certainly participated, via colonialism and so-called “empire-building”.

Probably. There's no such thing as making the world a better place without making it a worse place for the tyrants and userous profiteers.
You mean like the wild west? You're blaming Wild Bill Hickok for the world's problems?
