What reforms do America have currently that help legal immigrants ?

It’s not the legals that need reforming.. it’s the anchor babies and the MS-13 guys rolling up to the border with some random kid no papers and getting asylum

Actually, there’s a LOT of room to reform and improve the process for legal migration here. I know someone who spent almost a decade doing it legally. The broken legal path is one of the reasons some end up doing it illegally. There’s so much focus on illegal immigration that everyone has neglected the process for legal migration almost to the breaking point.@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout
Because there’s a choice to doing it illegally and quickly is where it breaks down.. hence the 100” strong caravans a day hurrying over before laws are changed.. you don’t think migration numbers will decline and slow right down when the only way is to come through the front door.. with ID@SW-User

Not trying to pick a fight.. ppl smugglers don’t bother coming to Oz in their boats no more.. that option is shut. And they know it

I know what you’re saying. I’m not talking about the people who are coming here with the intention of breaking additional laws once they arrive. They’ll never try the legal path even if it were made extremely easy.

The person I’m talking about who spent a decade getting legal citizenship was from England. She married a Marine, had two children with him, started a business over here with him after he left the service, and still had to run through a process that took nearly 10 years. There’s no logical reason it should have taken that many years for them to figure out that she was a legitimate candidate for citizenship who was planning to establish roots and contribute. I’ve heard similar stories, so I know she’s not the only one who had that experience. That said, she’s one of the most vocal opponents to amnesty for illegal immigrants I know based on what she had to endure to do it legally. My argument is that there has to be a way to streamline the process a bit for legal migration, because those people continue to get shafted for trying to do it right.

It isn't that specific, the absurd policies of the democraps have rewarded illegal immigration more than legal immigration

Teddy Roosevelt had the best philosophy on immigration...

To have reforms, you’d have to have a legislative body that’s not dysfunctional, and that’s something we haven’t had in decades.

Reforms? The Trump administration plans on eliminating the current immigration system, and replacing it with a merit based system.

@Northwest Times have changed.
When my ancestors came here, there was no welfare system
My ancestors just wanted to be American citizens.
They busted their asses to get here - legally.
They worked hard to learn the language.
While they never forgot their heritage, they wanted more than anything to be American.

Find me an immigrant like that today - they will 'quality'.
Breeze60 · 61-69, M
[@Budwick you forget the immigrants that came here and started the various crime factions in the 20's and 30's.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Breeze60 I didn't forget them.
I just didn't mention them.
I was speaking of my ancestors.

Feel free to share stories of yours!
