Are Evangelical Christians really the right people to be charged with determining US foreign policy ?

Northwest · M
They are not charged with it, but they de facto are. As a unified voting block, obsessed with Armageddon, they are on a one-track mind. Nothing else matters, even if it means putting a philandering piece of shit in charge, especially so, because they know he's not only indebted to them, but he must give them what they want.

Of course the answer is simple: vote them out of office in 2020. I am no longer polite, nor do I choose my words carefully when it comes to this. It's either us, rational thinkers, or them: doomesdayers. Fuck them all, and vote in 2020.

@Northwest but to the right, we are all lumped into that group. tbh, i have always appreciated your well thought out informative posts but i have seen you continuously painted by the libtard brush
@ladycae The difference is, there’s a group of evangelicals who claim to speak for all of you. The people who call Northwest a “libtard” don’t know the difference between a liberal, “classical” liberal, leftist or socialist. They just call names if the opinion differs from theirs.

81% of Evangelicals voted for Trump in the 2016 elections. That is about as close to one can call a solidarity. During Brazil's latest elections, the Evangelical block voted as one to support him, demanded and extracted a price that he's paying today, and I mean today. He's on a visit to Israel, on their behest, to support the US Evangelical mission.

You are the exception, but this is from a few months ago:

https://www.christianpost.com/news/white-house-hosts-100-evangelical-leaders-state-like-dinner-this-is-spiritual-warfare.html

In the person of Pompeo, they even have someone directing the US foreign policy, exactly what they wanted. I have yet to see a hint of dissent from anyone in a leadership position, in the Evangelical Church.

If the Pope convened a Council of Cardinals, and they came out in support of Trump, what choice do I have, but to say "the Catholic Church is behind Trump"?

Those who paint me as libtard, do so whenever they lose an argument. Not a very bright bunch.
Fernie · F
they should NOT have any power or authority whatsoever. No input at all!!! They are mentally ill
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
Platoscave · F
@Fernie no they are just stupid people like most others, and most others have no power at all.

And whoever/whatever is enabling them needs weeding out.

That's 4 you Koch brothers.
Fernie · F
@Platoscave THESE stupid people are dangerous and gaining power. No "just" about it...they want to replace the Constitution with the buybull
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
Evangelical Christians are the American Taliban!!
RodionRomanovitch · 56-60, M
@Harriet03 They're actually worse , at least the Taliban are totally upfront about it.
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
@Harriet03 That’s exactly who they are. Determined to implement a fundamentalist Christian sharia law.
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
What happened to the separation of church & state????
If the Evangelicals followed their bibles, Trump would have been Stoned to death years ago!!! 🤷‍♀️
Northwest · M
@RodionRomanovitch
Did it (separation of church and state] ever truly exist in the US ?
As a nation, we've never really had to test the principle, until vert recently.

During our slavery past, we were a nation of mostly white, Christians, served by blacks, who had mostly accepted Christianity. There was no conflict and no one really thought twice about a nativity scene in City Hall, because, well, there was a nativity scene at home.

Over the past 4 or so decades, we've become a more diversified nation. Immigrants from China, India, the Middle East, etc. brought their religions along, and for the most part, it is not Christianity.

The Christian Taliban, are now moving to protect their turf, and they're working under the cover of "fuck political correctness", to control Congress, our courts, and the Presidency.

We need to fight back at the ballot box.
@Northwest Many of the blacks who were brought had either practiced tribal religions or were Muslims (Musselmans) and in most of the U.S. as slaves they were forced to convert to Christianity, along with giving up their names, native languages and ties to family members.
Fernie · F
Gawd, no. Those folks are just an honor killing away from sharia law.

I wouldn't trust them to run a tea party.

As a BTW, Brazil's President will be arriving in Israel, in a few hours for an official visit.

He is expected to announce the move of Brazil's embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, and he will be accompanying Netanyahu on a tour that typically heads of state do not undertake, unless they meet with Palestinians, in the West Bank as well. He is not scheduled to visit any Christian or Muslim sacred places, or places of worship.

Bolsonaro won partially thanks to support from Brazil's Evangelicals, who vote as a single issue block.

This visit is also designed to bolster Netanyahu's chances in the upcoming Israeli elections.

@Northwest
This visit is also designed to bolster Netanyahu's chances in the upcoming Israeli elections.
By sheer coincidence could this be the same Netanyahu who is being looked into for corruption? 🤔
Northwest · M
@HerKing He is not being looked into, he's already been recommended for prosecution, on charges of corruption, by Israel's version of our FBI, following 2-year investigation. Israel's Attorney General decided to indict him.

Here's a link to a story from one of Israel's equivalent of our "fake news" media outlets:

No. They would be too bias towards Israel.

It’s Gods will don’t you know!
@HerKing My grandmother was that type of Christian, too. I can’t remember her saying an unkind word about anyone. She wouldn’t recognize these folks. 🙁
HerKing · 61-69, M
@bijouxbroussard
She wouldn’t recognize these folks
Indeed so. Not the same people. It's shameful and embarrassing, though the Trump cult can't be embarrassed, they just trot out a new excuse or find a new shiny thing.
Northwest · M
@HerKing I think a lot of so-called Christians, should read the NT and try to stick to it. Those who did are probably like your mom.
CoffeeFirst · 56-60, F
Neither the far right or far left speak for the majority of Americans.
RodionRomanovitch · 56-60, M
@CoffeeFirst What far left ?
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
They crazies and so they should not.
Platoscave · F
really naaaah!
DallasCowboysFan · 61-69, M
Yes, because they represent the values of the people that elected them.
RodionRomanovitch · 56-60, M
@bijouxbroussard The Pew Research Center 2014 survey in the United States identified the evangelical percentage of the population at 25.4 percent.
DallasCowboysFan · 61-69, M
@bijouxbroussard They don't have to be the majority, they just have to be the majority in each congressional district that shows up at the voting booth.

Only 58-60 percent of all eligible voters actually vote in each presidential election. Less in odd years.
@DallasCowboysFan Nonetheless, taxation without representation cannot stand. More people voted this past November, and possibly enough have been shaken up for the trend to continue. It has also prompted a variety of candidates to run for office who might not have in times past. I think they too now realize that the threat of becoming disenfranchised again is very real.
Sarabee · 41-45
hell if you want a devil worshipper then leave
Sarabee · 41-45
@Northwest thanks doc
Northwest · M
@Sarabee You're the one who brought up the spelling issue, while accusing me of being the devil. Are you really that stupid? How about you respond to the issues raised in this thread, and not be a tool.
Fernie · F
@Sarabee you just made an ass of yourself

LonelyMan · M
Who do you think are "the right people"?
Fernie · F
@LonelyMan Rational thinkers who don't buy the invisible sky fairy thing and don't do whatever possible to force their beliefs on others, people who aren't judgaholics and hypocrites, folks who don't think they can do whatever evil they please because that god guy will forgive them...geez, I could type ALLLL day
ladycae · 100+, F
@RodionRomanovitch @Fernie Christians can be rational. don't lump us all together. there are bad apples in every group. you may choose to not believe in God but that does not make those of us who do "bad" people. don't insult me and others. you don't like it when you are lumped into crying libtards. i admit that there are a group of extremists who have trump's ear, but then there are a lot of loonies who have trumps ear.
Fernie · F
@ladycae where did I say ALL? The ones who behave as I described are a plague on this planet...
HerKing · 61-69, M
Naaaa...They crazy!
