Nike and Gillette had marketing campaigns,,,

... based on annoying right-wing people into ineffective internet rage which ironically helps sell their products. They want you to re-tweet that pic of burning shoes because that is actually the advertising. Nike's value went up by 6 billion because of their Colin Kaepernick ad but most of the value has been added by the controversy.

I love H. Bomber Guy.

No one ever accused conservatives of being intelligent.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Quizzical Yeah it's about get a reaction, then a counter-reaction to the counter-reaction and so on.
daisymay · 51-55, T
@Quizzical The OP specifically mentioned "right-wing people" and I'm pretty sure it was the MAGAt crowd comprising a supermajority of the butthurt whiners in both cases.
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@daisymay Well, you'd be totally wrong about that. There were men, women, people of all age, colours and political persuasions who found the Gillette ad offensive to ALL men.

It was rather heartening actually to see people reacting to such hateful Feminist bullshit.

Actually I'm going to comment one more time and then I'm done. I just got to the part where he talks about how evil corporations are and that is true. I once heard Coca Cola was hiring far right wing militias to keep people from unionizing. And I'm not really surprised because Coca Cola were the ones that caught a bunch of flack for using African's water supply during a drought, they literally stole tons of water from them.

I love how these people are dumb enough to actually think they're each revolutionary soldiers and by burning shoes, "millions" will follow them lol. On the other hand I'm glad that people are not watching as much advertising anymore but it will come back to haunt because now companies (including right winged ones) are forced to resort to stunts so they get noticed.

It's like a beauty pageant for capitalism 🙄
Quizzical · 46-50, M
Well, Gillette has lost my business and it's nothing to do with my political leanings, as you yourself know I tend toward the left (though not quite as far left as yourself, lol)

Their campaign was offensive to ANY decent man watching it and it was filled with generalisations, inaccuracies, and a misunderstanding of the nature of men.
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@Burnley123 You're further left than than I am, but not so far left that you are a virtue signalling SJW...

You're about as far as you can go and still be an okay dude, lol 😆
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Quizzical I take that as a compliment LOL.
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@Burnley123 Please do :)
beckyromero · 36-40, F
Shock value.

This was interesting. I never heard of this channel before.
I'm going to check it out. Thanks!

He made some excellent points.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@peskyone Thanks for watching the vid. He makes politics interesting and funny but he is actually really smart too.

@Burnley123

I am jealous that you guys have a Media Studies course in high school. That's pretty awesome.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@peskyone It's not taught in most places, unfortunately. Also, we don't really tech civics as Americans do. Our education system has a lot of problems and the grass isn't always greener.

I can't wrap my head around someone who buys or has expensive Nike shoes and burns them as protest against a popular shoe company
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
Oh no how dare Gillette tell others sexism is bad. Oh crap.. I'm so devastated lol not.

It’s worth getting their headline summary of the 20the Century, “Our Dumb Century” . @Burnley123
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@SevIsPamprinYouAlways I might do that. NewsHump is the UK version. Here is one you might like:

Did he protest the use of sweat shops by Nike?
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@MrBrownstone Its not a problem lol

@Burnley123 Sorry it triggered you.

I like that he says controversy is their game but then says "uhhh" to people destroying products, he doesn't realize that is publicity for them too apparently
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Jackaloftheazuresand It's not apparent to the people destroying the shoes or the people writing about it. This stuff works.

@curiosi But this is my point. How do you advertise your product when everything has been done before? Get people talking about it. Every time you say you hate Gillette, you mention Gillette.
curiosi · 61-69, F
@Burnley123 You're right. There is a car salesman around here that my family knows. My Aunt was bold enough to tell him she didn't like his commercials as they were annoying. He responded "Good that's the point, now you remember them".
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@curiosi That is it. Nike and Gillette are doing a sophisticated version of that and its political.
I guess they feel safer to annoy the right than the left
