Why did the federal reserve go from using a .com to a .gov domain since 2016?

Because they want to look as if they're a extension of the government when in reality, they're a private entity.

Didn't know that. Interesting since they are not a government department.

That site is actually the website of the “board of governors of the federal reserve system” - which actually is a federal agency, and it makes sense they’d use the .gov suffix.

The Federal Reserve System has its own site - with a .org suffix.

I believe it 100% applies with the law? For example"what is minimum wage?" Or "my rights as an employee." Or even "What can my MP's do for me" etc etc Anything ending in .gov will give you right answers for such Q's.
I don't know but the top of it says the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. That is a government nominated and confirmed appointment. The federal reserve banks are private, though.
