Why did the federal reserve go from using a .com to a .gov domain since 2016?

I believe it 100% applies with the law? For example"what is minimum wage?" Or "my rights as an employee." Or even "What can my MP's do for me" etc etc Anything ending in .gov will give you right answers for such Q's.
