Boycott Nike?

I would, but I've never bought Nike anyway, so that's meaningless.
Colin Kaepernik has taken a stand—by kneeling—against the racism that still exists in our country. My father and my uncles—all veterans —support his beliefs and understand why. And Nike obviously respects him. Those who would destroy or boycott their products because their spokesman is against racism must therefore support racism, like our current president does. The president, btw, who used his connections to avoid serving, who mocked and disrespected the late John McCain as a POW. My family fought, some even in segregated troops during Jim Crow in the hope that our country would become more inclusive. They fought abroad for rights they didn’t have at home. I think they would be proud of Kaepernik’s efforts. I certainly am.

@xinbaba Oh, you agree the American flag is racist? I agree. Gonna burn one, be back in a few. Don't cry over your magic skycloth now.
@xinbaba How is she a "racist" ?

@SW-User Great point!

@SW-User People tend to get selective in what to protest. 😏

"We only want people to protest peacefully."
"NO NOT LIKE THAT"
@CountScrofula Thank you.
It is a bad NFL business decision

It is a horrible NIKE business decision... it will get several executives removed from their positions.

This morning it has already cost Nike more than they will ever recoup in profit.
@Stereoguy Nike decided to make anti-patriotism their corporate motto

People are only burning there Nikes, because they've run out of crosses!
Starbursteffect · 51-55, F
Nike shoes are crap anyway, no-one still buys them, do they?
xinbaba · 61-69, M
@bijouxbroussard no, it wasn't. It was just something I learned today from this discussion. Anyway, I said I never buy from them in the first place, so my "boycott" is meaningless.
@luckranger71 Cracks me up. Didn’t care about any of that before, nor did those folks burning shoes.
@xinbaba So, I found out when you did. And I’m going to make their sacrifices count by wearing the Nikes I have. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Very interesting, on the one hand the NFL finally passes a rule saying you have to stand for the anthem which is suspended while they argue about it with the players union. On the other hand they sign Nike to a 10 year contract as their uniform provider who hires the Kaepernick guy who started the kneeling thing in the first place. I guess just in case there were some fans they did not piss off they wanted to make sure they got them all riled up too.

@Johnson212 And then you have Fox News pundits bitching about it nonstop while the Murdoch Family controlled Fox Sports is shelling out $3 billion to the NFL just to air the shitty Thursday night football games. Enough hypocrisy to go around for everyone, lol.

I would be more concerned about the workers who make their products.

@chrisCA You mean the children in foreign countries?

@xinbaba
You know they abuse their workers, employ child labor, and make them work in sweat shops, but because their opinion of Kaepernick resonates with you, you are overlooking all that and supporting them. Hmmmmmmm.
I don't believe anyone on this thread expressed support for Nike. You, however, are saying that you would boycott Nike. The issue is over the way Kappernick chose to protest, so let's stop pretending.

It is his right to protest, peacefully, anyway he sees fit, the unfair treatment of minorities. He chooses not to stand up for the National Anthem. Do you think standing up for the Anthem, is what defines patriotism? Some believe Patriotism, is standing up for each other, and making sure we're all treated equally, whether by law or in the way we treat each other.

I'm not in Nike's main demographic being white and over forty. But if someone wants to destroy a pair of $100 shoes, that their loss. Nike already has their money.
What they do feature a straight white male in an ad or something

Meanwhile, Nike eats up the free advertising.

Please could you briefly tell us what's wrong with that brand?

@helenS More American politics. 😅

@xinbaba my flag here says made in china. No one died for it, I bought it at the local Dept store.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
He was not disrespecting the flag, if you believe hevwasvthen you have drunk the Koolaide fed to you by the draft
dodging, maniac in the oval office. Many religions bow or kneel in respect to their G-d. He was protesting disparities in racial justice. He has paid dearly for this. I am a veteran and gave 2 years of my life for my country. It bothers me very much thatbracial disparities still exist more than a hundred years since a war costing hundreds of thousands of deaths was fought to guarantee the rights I'd call races.
Graylight · 51-55, F
Based on what? Their shortsightedness in spending millions of dollars to back an unsigned player so poorly performing he can't find a team?
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
My posts have been deleted, so much for free speech America!!
